Building Pounds

Hi all, I am full time highschool student and just wondering what is a good way to gain pounds fast, not really fast but enough by a deadline. I am: Age:16 5'7'' 145 Pounds I do work out at my school gym, and I do the "football work outs". When I do this I gain about 1-2 pounds per week and a half with the help of some protien shakes. What my problem is, I want to gain enough pounds by August ( start of football) for the linebacker position. Right now I'm pretty small for that position. Any suggestions?

1-2 pounds per week is about as fast as you want to gain. If you gain any faster than that, a lot of it will be fat. The key to gaining weight is diet - getting enough calories. In other words, eat plenty of food. That, plus lifting heavy weights (which I assume you're doing with your football workouts), and you'll add muscle.
