Bowflex Extreme problem, help plz!!

Hello all! I decided to start working out again so i bought a Bowflex Extreme used. It seems to work, however, the rods hit the crossbar where the pulleys mount. This means that the rods never retract fully. Has anyone else had this problem and how did you fix it?
