I used a similar piece of equipment, the SoloFlex and really liked it. I wasn't going to get huge off it and build a ton of muscle but it was good for overall fitness and muscle toning. And it was compact and had a variety of exercises. It was perfect for my home gym. I think Bowflex would be similar. If you cannot join a gym or afford on, or it's too far away, then it's a good alternative. That also assumes you cannot afford or have the room for a bench, some weights and maybe a rack.
