Bodybuilding Thesis - Monday, April 25, 2005 10:11 AM
Hi there,

I am a young bodybuilder currently in my 4th and final year at university in Nottingham, England. I am trying to prove that bodybuilding has had a positive effect on society.

Below is a list of questions that by answering would help my final report on bodybuilding. I would be extremely grateful if you could answer the questions and send them back to me.

In order to form an in-depth analysis please could you state your gender, age and occupation?

Approximately how long have you been bodybuilding for?

What caused you to take up bodybuilding?

What do you think it takes to become a good bodybuilder?

What is your favourite outcome from bodybuilding?

Are you aware of the risks and dangers that bodybuilding could hold?

If so, in your opinion what are they?

Do you take any supplements or substances to benefit your training?

If so, what are they?

Finally, what ways do you find out about the current goings on surrounding the bodybuilding industry?

Thank you so much for your time, your opinions are extremely valued and please keep up the good work.

In order to form an in-depth analysis please could you state your gender, age and occupation?

Male, 19, Purdue University, first year student.

Approximately how long have you been bodybuilding for?

One year.

What caused you to take up bodybuilding?

Because it's something productive to do between classes, and my girlfriend appreciates it.

What do you think it takes to become a good bodybuilder?

What is your favourite outcome from bodybuilding?

Watching my squat max increase ~10lbs every week is pretty fun.

Are you aware of the risks and dangers that bodybuilding could hold?

Yes.

If so, in your opinion what are they?

There are many. But since I properly stretch, warmup, and do weight acclimation sets before muscle building sets I don't really have to worry as long as my form doesn't start slipping.

Do you take any supplements or substances to benefit your training?

Yes.

If so, what are they?

Whey and Creatine.

Finally, what ways do you find out about the current goings on surrounding the bodybuilding industry?

DB.

Male, 32. Computer Systems Enginner.

Approximately how long have you been bodybuilding for?

What do you think it takes to become a good bodybuilder?

Dedication and passion. Long-term committment.

What is your favourite outcome from bodybuilding?

Seeing the changes physically and seeing my strength increase over time. Knowing that last year I could only bench XXX and now I'm doing XXX.

Are you aware of the risks and dangers that bodybuilding could hold?

Yes. As with any sport, things taken to the extremes can be harmful.

If so, in your opinion what are they?

Use of illegal drugs, improper form leading to injury. Lure of quick results disregarding the risks associated with taking a shortcut.

Do you take any supplements or substances to benefit your training?

Yes

If so, what are they?

Creatine. Multi-vitamins. Glucosamine. Fish oil. Saw Palmeto. Protein.

Finally, what ways do you find out about the current goings on surrounding the bodybuilding industry?
