Ok, my mum recently bought a fat calculator, but i might return it. It basically is one of those which prompt for age, height, weight, and then you put your thumbs on the cal for 3 seconds, which then gives your fat %. I think it works through an electric current. Anywayz, i tried it on my dad, and it said he had 26%. When I did it on me, it said 5%, is this accurate. I know these calculator ain't the accurasist, but yea... Stats Height: 173cm Age: 19 Weight: 48kg

Well before you return it, get some body fat calipers - very cheap, and use them to measure it. They are very accurate and will tell you whether or not the machine is correct also!

use fat calipers, they are accurate, the other thing you have is not. It goes off of fluid in body and a bazillion other factors that change on a day to day basis.

Ditto on those eletronic devices not working very well for consistent measure.. Look at something like these... Calipers <---link This is the only low cost caliper accurate enough to be used for professional measurements and is the most widely used professional caliper in the world. Its primary disadvantage is that it does not look professional, high tech or sophisticated. On the topic of Body fat measurement...THIS is a fairly reasonable method to insure you are on track with whatever you want to accomplish. HOWEVER, all the methods YOU can use to test your body fat yourself are unreliable on a one time basis. They are better used to track changes over time on an ongoing basis. Test every 1-3 weeks at the same time of day...and use the same scale to take your weight in the same cloths every time.
