2/14/05 Monday (valentine's day!) 8th period chest/back deadlift: 4x5-125 (up 10 lbs from last week and feeling good. could go up more next week. pat taught me a new grip so i could hold more weight.) bb row: 4x5-55 (up 10 lbs from last week. did well. could up it next week.) flat bench: 4x5-70 (up 5 lbs from last week. explosive. so i could handle another 5 or so next week.) laying chest overhead: 4x8-15 (tough but felt good. if i lowered it to 5 reps i could probably do 20. maybe i'll try that next week) lat pulldown: 4x8-50 (the lighter weight made it easier to do perfect form. could def handle another 10 lbs next week but it might be a little jerky. not so fluid as today.) well i feel good about what i've done today. i hope to go home and run 2x400. that's about all i can handle without my chest exploding. i figure if i run it everyday eventually i'll be able to run farther without feeling like i'm going to die. it makes me hate running even though i don't want to because it hurts so much. i need to go eat. i think i'll take a run to a fast food joint since that's all there is around here. and a grocery store but i'm not sure what i could get from there that i could eat right now. the plan is just to consume a lot of food and lift a lot and run as much as i can and hopefully i'll reach my goals by august. ahh! only 5 months! ~Bobbi

best way to gain weight? eat .66lb of ham! sliced at Kroger. too bad it costs $3.95. I couldn't afford it everyday, especially with other food i have to eat. A girl can't live on 1/2 lb of ham everyday! ~Bobbi

I'm going to bookmark your journal under my "Mood enhancement" folder. Some advice: if you go somewhere like Maccy D's, get a chicken burger of some description and avoid full sugar coke. Last year for a short while over here (in the UK), they did a really tasty grilled chicken sandwich made with grilled chicken breast. They stopped doing them though. I was quite disappointed. They've replaced them with some chicken flatbread things that are nice, but not half as good as the original. Obviously Subway is the place to be!

Oh, and whenever your gym is shut or your coach isn't there to let you train, have you ever thought about doing circuit training?

2/15/05 tuesday 5th period i set my goals a little high but i've changed my routine again. still on the quest for the perfect routine! squats (below parallel) 1x5-65(too heavy) 3x5-45 squats (hack) 4x5-125 leg press (full) 4x8-100 leg ext 4x8-50 i think i'm willing to sacrifice some weight for perfect form. i'd prefer to not hurt myself and get the most out of my workout. i guess that's best. i have to do homework for next period and then i'll do abs 8th period. i had a slice of cheese pizza. now i'm out of money for this week and i'll have to pack or something. ah! ~Bobbi

ORIGINAL: rippedchick lol. glad i could ammuse you. what's circuit training? Set yourself out a little circuit to do and get a stopwatch. An example circuit may be: 1. Push ups. 2. Sit ups. 3. Up and down a step. 4. Star shapes. 5. Skipping. etc... Do #1 for 60-90 seconds, rest for 30 seconds, move onto #2 for 60-90 seconds etc... If you're fit enough, do the full circuit 2-3 times. Should really knacker you out. It's good stuff.

ORIGINAL: rippedchick my lower left back and chest was twinging bad last night. it was weird. Are you drinking enough/too much water? Did it feel like muscle cramping, or just muscle twitching, or just a general pain.

it was a definite twitching. it didn't hurt at all. just feels weird. it happened again today in my chest a lot even when i would just cross my arms. and when i did leg lifts on the captain chair my lower left back started twitching again. i dunno if i should keep working until it stops or what. it doesn't hurt though. just, never felt this before.

If it becomes painful, back off a little.

ok. i think it might be b/c i've had quite a bit of caffine in me since last night (hence the non-sleeping) so maybe i should drink more water? 2/15/05 Tuesday home 4:30-5:00p I ran!!!! I ran a 2:50 400 and then I ran 11 sprints up this hill in my neighborhood. I don't know how far it was but from a GK it looked a little less than midfield. Then I split the distance into 4 parts and ran a suicide before I ran a 2:50 400 back. I was so tired but so proud of myself! I much prefer sprints to long distance. I read in ESPN mag today that genetically some people are programed for sports like sprinting and football because they have 2 of this gene that codes for fast-twitch muscle fibers and some people don't have them and are more built for endurance. I definitely think I'm one of the former. I don't mind sprinting as much b/c of the great recovery and it only last a little while and then you get to rest. Man I can't for the life of me go out if I think i'm going to have to run strait for 20 min. I hate running the 3 min to my hill! I wonder if it's ok to run different kinds of sprints but just stay away from the long distance. I know it's good and everything but it totally sux. Definitely the week point in my life.lol when people ask me what I can't do I always say "run." They think it's funny but it's true. When I'm in a group I run with the fat people. It sux b/c I excel at everything else. But I guess I'll just take it in baby steps. Maybe a little running everyday will eventually add up to a lot running later. Let's hope! ~Bobbi
