Big Pecks

Hi, I spent 3 days just reading about how to strengthen the pecks. And I found a lot that can help, but for people who were skinny and needed to gain wait first. I dont need to gain wait. I am about 6'4 195. however the only problem is my pecks, they are not strong, but more like, well I dont wanna say it. Whats the best way to fix that without weights. I have 25lbs bells thats it. I read a lot saying it takes motivation, but i am someone that wants to know that I will definately see results in about a month or so. I think a month is a long time. Really Im giving it 3 months, I want to be in shape for when I go away to college, and have to shower infront of people, im serious. Im always subconscience about that kind of stuff. Im motivated, im going to put in the effort. Just tell me how

Wieghts would be far better but you can do... Incline push ups and flat push ups. Once you can do 50 with good form all way down and up. You can take of your DBs and put it on your back. Then once you can do 50 put both DBs on your back.

how often should I do those push ups, and how many should I start of with? And when will it be likely to see results?

Something like... Monday- Flat push ups to failure for 3 sets Incline push ups to failure for 3 sets Real wide push ups to failure for 2 sets Friday- Flat push ups to failure for 2 sets Incline push ups to failure for 2 sets Real wide push ups to failure for 2 sets If you do 50 without wieght put a DB on your back. Have a minute break between sets. You can see results in a month with a good diet.

yeah good advice. doing wide grip push ups or bench takes presure out of your triceps and focus more on your chest.

If you want to get big, you're really going to have to take a long hard look at how you eat first- There's just no way you're going to build muscle if your body doesn't have the stuff it needs to build new muscle from- Check out This thread for more info on how and what you should be eating before you worry about supps- If you try to rely on supps for your gains when your diet's not right, you won't see results- They're called supplements because they're only meant to supplement an already good diet. Besides that, it sounds like you should also read This thread too.

Well, its been about a month. And I did what I was told. After maybe 2 weeks, the burning stopped when working out. But I was hoping maybe that means, I just dont feel the burn but it is still working. Anyway results arent what I would like. What should i do? If the burning stops, is that bad?

A month? I have been at it for four month now and still not noticed any serious increase, trust me it takes time commitment and a good diet. You are getting dishearted which happens because you are setting your expectations too high - basically be glad for the small changes that you soon see, and soon realise that all those small changes you have been noticing are one big one, then you realise those 10months at the gym were really worth it. 10 month? I don't know how much increase you would expect from then since, im not there yet. :)
To train or not to train; to train is the answer - because if you aim for nothing, you'll hit it everytime.

If the burning stops, is that bad? burning in what? u saying your chest doesn't burn anymore fromt eh exercises like it did before? i would say if you are trying to burn out your chest, or you want to make it smaller then someone told me, so i REALLY AM NOT SURE, cause i didn't ever studying about how to make muscles smaller. but he said that if you do lots of pushups and do them everyday then you will burn out your chest muscle eventually. i dunno, I AM NOT SURE ABOUT THIS. and as for you not feeling the burn, if u r saying that u don't feel the pushups anymore then do variations. there are many many variations of pushups out there. so change it and make it harder. do wide pushups. do wide inclined pushup. do jum up pushups. do wide grip jump up pushups. try lifting your whole body instead of only your upper body. i can't do it but u can try. then you can put two chairs and put your leg in one chair and do pushups to give your a greater range of motion. u can do variations in that position. good luck

If you're giving yourself only a month, or even 3 months, concentrating on one body part, ignoring the diet and even bodyfat issues, you're going to be disappointed. Unfortunately. It's your only body. Make a committment! :)

Do pushups for years and you still might not see anything....join a gym, stop squeezing pennies.

ORIGINAL: tobinator_93 hey i just turned 14 and i was wondering if i should be doin weights? And what is a incline push up? Thanks Hi welcome to the list. You'll probably want to start your own thread next time. Anyway, some people will say to go full throttle, but I say you gotta listen to your body. Has puberty started to set in at high gear? Are you seeing male secondary sexual characteristics (body hair, voice deepening), and the usual adolescent acne? If so, you're probably ready to go. ASK YOUR DOCTOR FIRST. Start out light, and work the WHOLE body (not just the vanity muscles--the arms and chest). If not, don't be discouraged. You can prep a lot for weight training when you can most benefit from it. Doing body weight exercises will increase strength, and get your joints and nerves used to the different movements. An incline push-up is where you elevate your legs, such as by resting them on a bench (or a bed), changing the balance of the exercise.

ORIGINAL: tobinator_93 hey i just turned 14 and i was wondering if i should be doin weights? And what is a incline push up? Thanks I would do what you can get your hands on. If you or your family has a gym ... use weights. If you can't get weights and don't want to spend the money, there are several things you can do without weights which some have outlined above. To my knowledge, an incline push-up is when you elevate your feet on a chair and then do the push-up versus a normal push-up where your feet would be planted on the ground.

Also, I don't know what you're imagining dorm showers as but you're not going to have to shower in front of people. Its not a jail. At my university the only place that has comunal showers is the Skulls fraternity, but thats another story.

Dude if you dont want to gain weight then that must mean your absolutely peer muscle ??? And about the bigger pecs thing the best exercises for your pecs are dumbell presses, bent arm flyes , pushups, dips, barbell presses and so on all the basics. But do it 3 days a week preferably M - W - F and drink plenty of water and get rest you should start to see results in lesss then a month if you actually push yourself hard each workout. Good luck Natural Muscle
