Best way to gain muscle when you're skinny?
-
Tuesday, June 03, 2008 6:45 PM
Well I'm 17, 5'10, 130 lbs and I'm pretty much just a skinny athletic white kid with a high ass metabolism. My goal is pretty much just to get bigger. I started to work out about a year ago regularly until I broke my pelvis snowboarding 7 months ago and had to stop working out for awhile. Well now that i'm fully healed and everything I've started to work out regularly again. I recently bought some superpump that came free with that size -on stuff too. I bought it a few days ago and have only used it once. I pretty much wanna know if using super pump and size on regularly can help me to get bigger or is it not going to work well do to my lack of body fat to be turned into muscle? If you have any tips or suggestions that would help alot, thanks.

Read the gaining mass post linked in my signature. FOOD is turned int muscle, not fat. The % of nutrients you eat is key, if you have a fast metabolism..go for a slightly higher % of carbs, such as over 50% of total calories, with fat from 20-30%. Read that gaining mass thread, get the basic things for gaining mass in place, then post any questions back here!

when i first read the thread title i was kind of like "ugghhh another one of these." the answer to your question can be found almost anywhere on this board. you have to eat, eat, eat some more, eat alittle bit more, keep eating, and eat. that's the #1 thing. especially before and after your workout. i didn't mean to come off as a jerk or something, but you just gotta look around, there are answers to any question you have anywhere

Danmirage is right, the link he referred you to has what you need. It looks like a lot of reading but keep in mind that it is all valuable, almost no fluff in there.

If planning meal is not easy for you, you could always get the good calories from home-made weight gainer smoothies. It is easy to make, easy to store, and is very comfortable to bring everywhere. You can google some nice recipes of those shakes.

I'm actually REALLY similar to you. I'm a bit shorter, and I weigh a bit less, but I gained 6ish lbs in 7 or so weeks, which IMO is great progress. Read a lot of nutrition articles about healthy foods, good carb/protein/fat ratios, and go off that. I'm sure you could eat REALLY unhealthy, but have an idea of your ratios and EAT EAT EAT.
