Best place to shop for food? - Tuesday, September 01, 2009 1:14 PM ( #1 )
Seeing as how i'm only 17 and still living with parents, and with income being tight for them right now, i've decided to buy my "healthier" foods on my own. I'm looking to buy in mass, chicken breasts, almonds, fresh fruit, general healthier food than what you would find in an average teen's foodstock. Nonperishables would be great, as would things i can pack up as throw in my bag before school or work.

I find it especially hard to meet my protein intake for the day, even with shakes. And the urge to go into the pantry and snack on chips is always there, so a cost effective snack would do wonders. Beef jerky is amazing, but it costs an arm and a leg! Thanks guys.

If there is an Aldi's near you try there. Their prices and quality are good. They may not have everything you want but with have most. Our local store even carries fresh meat and veggies and the prices are considerable less than the other chain stores.

They do not take checks, cash, credit, or debit and you have to sack your own, and bring or buy the sacks, but that is not a big deal.

We actually do have an Aldi down the road a bit, maybe i'll stop in there and check it out. I know we got pork tenderloin from there once and it was pretty damn good. What sorts of things should I be looking for? Right now my biggest problem is snacking on junk food when I get a bit hungry, especially late at night.

They have a lot of great stuff there, meat, dairy, egg, cheese, frozen, canned. Just about anything you would want. They also have a brand called "Fit and Active", marketed as being healthy, low fat or low calorie. I have tried just about all of their products and like them, particularly their real egg sub, and ice cream.
