Ive tried alot of different pre-workouts, but never seemed to get the reaction that I wanted. What types did you find most effective?

I think I have just about tried them all, seriously. I lost track of the bookoo bucks I have spent on "pre" stuff. I have finally decided on "Jacked" by USP labs and "Xtinguisher" by MaxxMuscle. The Xtinguisher tastes a little better and mixes better, but the Jacked gets me a little more wired. My body did not like any of the other ones, most of them did nothing for me (I used to drink a **** ton of Mountain Dew and coffee) but these 2 I have found work for me. You're just going to have to bite the bullet and try a couple different ones. Most of them come in single servings so you can just try 1 or 2 and not have to buy a whole jug of it. Good luck-

I don't take preworkouts, make me feel like garbage. And I don't get any strength gains.

You guys don't get any carbs, simple or complex, before workouts? No Gatorade or anything?

I thought muscle glycogen stores were low from the overnight fast. What am I missing?

I have tried my fair share of pre-workout drinks and I honestly haven't found any that did anything for me. The worst tasting was Gakic, I think they named it that because that is the sound you make when you are hurling it back up. But, the only thing I do now is drink a couple cups of coffee before working out in the morning. JMBS, I did a thread on what people do to get set to workout (routine not ROUTINE) and noticed that many people do eat an hour or so before working out. I don't because I get up at 4:30 am and tried it with eating and without and it didn't seem to make a noticeable difference to me. But, I think you might be right about glycogen or other bodily processes "starved" overnight from the fasting. While I don't feel that eating prior to working out made me any stronger or intense, I am willing to bet it is better to do, even if you don't feel what it is doing to benefit you. It's not going to hurt a workout that's for sure.

I take No-Xplode before workouts if I am groggy and need perking up but if you wanted to save money coffee would do the same thing.

SEOINAGE Well I eat, and make sure I have adequate nutrition but definately no gatorade, HFCS FTL. When I ran out of Gatorade I switched to Kool Aid powder (sucrose+fructose). Cheap. Is that bad? Figured I was just going to burn it off w/workout anyway. Thoughts?

Only time I purposely consume sugar is (while bulking) post work out, and in the form of fructose or some 100% juice. Other times it is just because it looks good.

Chicken + Rice + Salad 90 minutes prior = Pre Workout = saving $$$ on garbage = strength = size Seriously, pre-workout brands are all about the top 4 inches of the human body. Its all in the mind.

I've tried Black Powder, SP250 and Jack3d. Jack3d is the best out of the Pre-Workout Supps i've tried, and currently on my third tub. It's rather cheap compared to the competition and it also is not filled with addatives/fillers like many other nitric oxide supps. Personally, i like the warm rush feeling i get along with a nice pump from the Jack3d. My opinion is, if you got some money laying around, minus well spend them on the hobby you enjoy doing.
Swollen 24/7 Supps: Whey, Mono, Fish Oil and Animal Pak.

hillbillyfred i tired no-xplode,jacked,superpump an i've found the best thing to do was eat alot before a workout I ate 1 hour prior to my workout..mid workout i burped and a puked a little...I don't think eating before a workout is healthy at all... I take superpump 250...get a good pump, keeps you going for a long time, no crash after the workout. Though i haven't tryed any other pre-workout supplements yet...( I tested Bulldose extreme...wasn't able to finish it since i gagged after every sip)

While I agree with the food and maybe the Pre's are a mental thing, they seemed to help me out. I think Labrada's Supercharge is one of the most underrated pre's out there.

Robtimusprime seriously pre-workout drinkers, leave your ego at the front desk of the gym. Yo uwill get a good enough pump if you are eating right and training hard. who said that pre-workout drinkers are flairing there egos? for some people it is a mental issue regardless if it has the same effect as eating whole foods and having proper pre and post workout nutrition. some people like it and some people like myself save money and just skip it.
