Hey, i'm 17 and a hard gainer and used to be underweight. Since the beginning of August, I've been eating alot and working out. Before I worked out I was really skinny. I looked unhealthy but now since i've been working out. I look and feel alot better. First I had only an iron skillet to work with. Now I use an 8lb ball and a 40lb barbell. My sister works at GNC so she brings me home some protein, creatine, fish body oil for my joints and some Acetryl - L - Carnitine. i used to do 3 sets of 20 reps with the 8lb ball with each hand. Then after that, i stepped up to the 40lb bench press. I can tell a big difference, my chest is bigger and my arms and shoulders and alot bigger now. Oh and she gave me a magnetic bracelet as well. Don't know what it does but I wear it alot. Here're some before and after pics. Just so ya'll know. I'm still trying to gain somemore weight. Oh and any ideas for adding muscle to the forearm?

If all you got is that equiptment, use your barbell and do wrist curls using both hands in one exerise.

are you sure thats the only advice you want?

btw, i defenitaly see a big difference, good job but still... eat even more

Hello, im too a beginner and have a similar problem to you with weight :) it looks like your on the right track though! i notice a big difference in your for-arm / upper arm especially! - how long did it take for you to get from the before, to the after?

Your right arm is looking a little more butch than your left arm, - are you doing the same routines to both sides of your body? - its important to be symetrical, because when it comes to doing heavier weights, one side of your body wont be able to cope, and your muscle formation will just look stupid (been there done that, got the t-shirt)

i found my forearm increased slightly in mass when i did more dumbells on a higher weight, - your forearms will strain to keep them comin up, so maybe you could try increasing your dumbells to the point of not being able to bring them up.

I think a possible problem you have with your appearance (without being critical) is to wear clothing that fits a little tighter, loose fitting clothes is ok, but it doesnt show any curvature to your body, and will pschologically make you think your thinner than what you are. - Optical illusion with clothes can play a big part with skinnyness. (tshirts with logo's rather than plain tshirts will draw attention away from chest muscle - darker colours will make you look thin, where-as light greys and whites will shadow and show curves better).

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks, and well I'm right handed and do more than lift weights with my right so that might be the reason. Should I increase the reps for my left arm? Plus to be honest. That gray shirt is a tad smaller but they are the same size. Oh and I'm "sorta" ok with tighter fitting shirts but really not in pants and we all know why as welll. Thanks for all the feedback!

I can see a lot of difference too.

If you want your left arm the same strength as the right-just do bicep exercises and let the left be in control

basically

if you do for example 8 reps with the right, 7 with the left, you lift the left for the 8th time, and you feel your left arm has definately worked to its max, but you feel your right could keep going for loads more (happens to me Smile) , just stop.

Dont work the right.
In the end the left should catch up.
if you increase weight one dumbell only which ive done it feels weird and actually lessens your reps i found(lessens reps on the arm that hasnt had an increase), as when doing standing bicep curls you need balance too with heavy weights, and one heavier than the other put me off, so i use the technique used above.

to build forearms use backward bicep curls, basically raise and lower the dumbell with your palm facing away from you, believe me, it KILLS the forearm, especially when doing it on preacher curls technique @_@

shove a load of carbs down you, thatl increase your weight, make sure you get protein too and eat plenty of fruits and vegetables

look in the nutrition forum for all the good foods, though with your sister giving you them supps you should be getting a lot of your burn from that, but still eat loads.

im a hard gainer too, and if u want to see results i recommend joining a gym or getting a workout station for your house... the latter is most likely more expensive especially because you are going to college soon and they will have gyms...

look around on the forum for some sample beginner routines or if u want something more specific just make a post

and most importnatly EAT EAT EAT EAT EAT!!!

you wont get anywhere if u dont

gl!!

Ah, thanks for that. It's working pretty good. Plus my shoulders/back are killing me now but at least I know they're getting worked out. At least my sister's magnetic bracelet is helping with the pain lol.
