 Bar weight?!

Bar weight?! - Monday, November 06, 2006 9:19 AM
       Does anyone know how heavy these bars for benching are?  I dont think its on the bar and I dont feel like inspecting them and looking like an idiot at the gym!  I go to LA fitness if that helps.

standered bars for bench pessing are 20 kg which is 44 pounds.

7 inch bench bars are 44-45 lbs.

the bar I use at home is only 15 pounds, but when I went to high school and used there's, it weighed like 45 lbs, I was able to bench more wieght. Anyone know why?

all the gyms in my area have olympic bars on the bench press benchs hence why i say standerd. 90 percent of the time if people are benching at the gym its with an olympic bar.

Its easier to stabilize when the bar weighs more. Like if you had 9 fives on instead of a forty five there'd be more stuff moving around and it'd be harder to control
