I've been out of the gym for 2 years...  A year ago I tried to get back in the swing of things through mountain biking then had a big wreck that put me on the DL for a few months.  During that time I wasn't able to do much of anything so I got a bit lazy and lost all my motivation by time I healed up (even now, a year later, my left hand still isn't 100%).  On the plus side, I was finally able to quit smoking (due to my daughter ragging me); the negative to that is in conjuction with getting lazy I replaced the smoking with snacking.  I've put on 40lbs over the last 2 years, moreso in the latter half.

When I quit going to the gym 2 years ago I had been bulking up and was around 220/15-18%.  Now I'm 260 and probably as gross as 30%.  I'm nowhere near a gym now so I'm assembling one in my garage to work with (a good bench with some free weights, pull-up bar, elliptical machine), now all I need is a heaping cup of motivation to go with it.  I think I'm ready.  I just turned 30 and I need to get a grip on things.  Now.

My priorities and perspectives on things have changed over the last few years.  I've always been big/bulky but it was hard(er) to maintain and it's not necessarilly a goal of mine now.  I think, instead, I'd just like to be "fit" and healthy.  Essentially I think I'd like to be back around 175-180, so I've got a long way to go.

I'll be doing everything all naturally -- no supplements or anything, mostly because I've got a lot of expenses right now and that's one that I can go without.  Later on I may add some whey.

Since I've been out for 2 years and I'm re-prioritizing my goals, I'm not sure what I'm looking at diet-wise.  I'll probably start with 2000 calories and play around with some numbers until I find a plan that feels good for me.  Just off the top of my head I'll probably go with a daily intake around:

Total intake - 2000 calories
Protein - 175g/700cal - 35%
Fat - 45g/405cal - 20%
Carbs - 225g/900cal - 45%

I haven't set up a schedule yet but it'll still take a few days to set things up so I'm planning on starting Monday.
