Back Pain - Friday, February 17, 2006 7:05 PM ( #1 )
Well two months ago when i first started using weights, and doing calisthenics, i got like back pains...but now it's stopped....but it still hurts like if i like sit down and kinda slouch, or if i cough...shud i see a doctor? i've read it cud be a sign of a damaged herniated disc, i'm kinda scared, and like i'm only 19..don't wanna have back problems for the rest of my life.

Its always a good idea to see a doc if you are concerned about an injury.

Most of the time its nothing major - but hearing that from a doc will give you peace of mind.

The rule of thumb is:  joints are not supposed to hurt.  If they hurt, you might be injured, seriously so.  Go see a doctor.  Like Lynx said, most of the time it's nothing major.  But the longer you wait, the more you risk developing a chronic condition that is much much much more difficult to heal and will effect your workouts for a long time afterwards.

Yeah you wanna see some sorta physician... so they can evaluate how bad it is and offer you advice .  It doesnt sound that severe since your arent agonizing in pain currently but the earlier you address the problem the faster you recover.
