Hi all,
I'm new to the board, but have enjoyed reading what a lot of you have to say.
My question is: Can a girl take the BSN stack without ill effects?
Here's my deal. I'm almost 30, 5'5", and 171 pounds. I know that is not an ideal weight. I am athletic however and work out 6-days a week, weights and cardio.
My basic week is this:
Monday - Chest and Back - flat bench, incline, decline, db flyes - lat pulldowns, 1-arm db pulls, seated row
Tuesday - Bi's and Tri's - db curls, db hammer curls, isolated curls - pushdowns, kickbacks, and the one where you push the db above you head using both arms (I have no idea what it's called)
Wednesday - Legs - hack squats, leg press, extensions, curls, and calves
Thursday - Shoulders - db presses, db front raises, db side raises, and the one where you use the preacher curl bar with your hands in the middle and lift straight up (again, I have no idea what that's called too)
Friday - Back and Chest - just a reverse of Monday's routine
Saturday - Legs - reverse of Wednesdays routine
I do at least 30 minutes of cariod each time, mixing it up with bike and elliptical and doig intervals as well. Most days I get 45-60 minutes in of cardio.
I feel like I am fairly strong - my flat bench max is 145 and I can rep at 135. I can decline around 150. My db curls are 30lb weights, tricep kickbacks are up to 20 and that overhead thing is 40-45.
I primarily use pyramid lifting with reps of 12, 10, 8, 6, and 12 for each exercise. I have had significant increases in my strength in the last six months, but see no difference in my body.
My deal is that I have been the same weight since February, not fluctuating more than one or two pounds. I don't know my body fat %. Even inches seem to be the same as they were six months ago.
I want to get stronger but also lean out/tone at the same time. Is that a little counterintuitive? Do I need to pick one over the other?
I am in the Army and a lot of guys I am staioned with do the BSN stack and have had great results. Does anyone know what will happen if I try this for two months? They guys, one a personal trainer with a Master's in exercise physiology, say that it won't have any ill affects. Anyone out there know any females that have tried it?
Sorry this post got a bit lenghty!
Thanks for your time and advice,
LB
