I have seen alot of BMI test that are popping up in magazines and by the time I enter my height, weight and all the other info I end up being obese which I know that I am not or at least I don't think I am.  Can these test be accurate when we all know that muscle weighs more than fat??

The test does not work for bodybuilders because, as you said, muscle weighs more than fat.  A far more accurate measurement of your condition is the body fat %.

BMI tests are not accurate!

On the side note... Muscle does not weigh more than fat!... 150lbs of muscle and 150lbs of fat are both 150lbs!... However, 150lbs of muscle is much more dense (and compressed) than 150lbs of fat! (E.g. A boulder vs. 1500 feathers!)...

Density is another story!

Good Luck! Smile

Muscle vs. fat.  It's actually more accurate to say a given volume of muscle weighs more than the same volume of fat.  I think that's what people mean when they say muscle weighs more than fat.  They mean to compare equal volumes.

KimPhil,

These test obviously can't measure your BMI. There is no way to take into account your situation. I know people who are flabby and fall in the low end of these test. There are calipers that can give you a general idea, but he only completely accurate test I know of is where you are weighed underwater.

I suggest you not get caught up in the numbers of bodybuilding and use the mirror to give you an accurate update on your progress.

Keep training hard.

With respect

Intense
