BCAA's
-
Monday, April 20, 2009 12:56 PM
( #1 )
So I was browsing through the best of supplements and I noticed that I should be taking BCAA's pre and post workout when I am trying to cut. I knew about BCAA's but never really paid them any mind. I noticed that my protein already has 5.5g per serving of bcaa in each scoop (i take two) so am i good? If I should be taking an isolated source of BCAA can anyone make a suggestion? Also, am I supposed to be taking a protein shake pre and post workout? just a little confused on that. I use ON gold standard 100% whey btw.

I've read that Bcaas are best absorbed on their own. Whether that is true or not I do not know.

Depending on how much protein you are getting and how quickly you are cutting you might want to supplement some extra BCAA to be safe. You can certainly loose fat and maintain muscle but it takes longer meaning you can't cut as many calories.

My BCAAs taste like burnt hair. Buy them encapsulated.

always take bcaa, its just more efficient when you take them while cutting. the bcaa helps preserve your muslces and helps you burn fat when cutting. still should be used no matter cutting or bulking though

I go through 5 gs prior to morning cardio with caffeine on empty stomach, 5 gs during session and 5 grams afterward.

Adam, what's your guesstimated BF% right now? You have been cutting a little while, right?

I don't think it's very good to be honest. I'm averaging around 186 lbs, 5 ft 11. I would say 20 % maximum (hopefully) Big problem is carbohydrates for me. You can have what seems like an average meal and you realise you've chucked down 150 grams of carbs. If only protein was so abundant.

I don't think I get enough carbs sometimes. That's why I turn to ice cream and stuff of that nature.

No? I'm surprised. I'm drowning in them.
