I am currently taking BCAAs but can I really accomplish the same by just drinking a protein shake?

BCAA's are different from protein shakes (otherwise I'm sure they would be called protein tablets). They increase the production of insulin in massive amounts and then help the binding and intake of protein. A lot of people take BCAA's when cutting because this increase in effective protein consumption is what they need to avoid losing large amounts of muscle.

waynethepayne, I'm sorry but that made no sense. I think BCAA are very essential if you are seroius about your training. I would say most athlertes and bodybuilders would havea tub of BCAA stashed away in there gym bag.
