My Intro: I have listened to Daniel Gastelu's (Ph.D., trainer, researcher, author) Seminar series on Developing Awesome Muscles and I believe there is a good deal of information of value in there for bodybuilders, powerlifters, physique athletes and even those looking to just get ripped. These are free to stream or download and packed with information. They range in time from as little as 15 minutes to as much as an hour...on average being 30 minutes. (I will show you how to cut 33% of the time off if your time is precious.) There are no ads and no fluff. I want to know if anyone would be interested in listening to the segments Daniel has presented, one at a time and discussing them...I will answer any questions anyone has about the content. I am corresponding and will be talking with Daniel and if there is anything anyone wants to know more about, I am sure I can get him to cover it. There are 22 topics from supplementation and nutrition for fat loss and muscle gains to some specific methods and techniques for maximal performance and development. I will highlight the key points as I see them and try to clarify anything that I feel is presented in a complicated fashion. Everyone else is free to do the same as well as discuss the points, ask questions, debate, and together work out practical scenarios for applying these things to our training to get the most of the cutting edge science that is presented. P.S. Daniel builds on ideas as he goes through the series and I feel that listening in order is very helpful in getting some of the insights he sharing. ----------------------------------------------------------- Here is the Third audio in the series. http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/diabetespodcast.htm December 2005 16 minutes In this week's show, Dan Gastelu continues his coverage of weight loss. This seminar focuses on reviewing the knowledge base found in the medical research about weight loss. Dan also covers low calories and very low calorie diets, lessons learned, the fat burning power of low fat diets, and setting the stage for the Dynamic Nutrition Approach for fat loss. In addition, Dan discusses a special topic of the week - diabetes - and beating it with the time-tested approach from the 1880's that modern research confirms works, as well as a quick note about glutamine. Highlights: Lifestye vs. medications in avoiding/treating type 2 diabetes Time tested vs new and cutting edge aproaches to training Taking to much Glutamine? So how much... Diets are not focused on positive body composition change and health - rather on weight loss Thermic effect of nutrients TDEE increase with exercise 95% failure of diets! Behavior and success ---> map out your plan and progress..find your triggers! If you want to talk about anything you hear...post a comment in this tread! Remember this is a moderated forum so comments may not immediately appear. There are 22 topics in this series and I will put the links to them in here later...

Do you have more info on diabetes? In particular type II and insulin. I have been reading this information on this post...very useful but if there is more I would appreciate it :) Also, what about any information about the "diabetic drinks" like Glucerna. Gracias!

Hola Jane, Glucerna is just another fake food product, which are the things that caused the problem in the first place. The difference is it has fats and fiber. Trying to be Like a real food. It is a trick. They use fiber, slow release proteins (MILK!!!) and fat to slow gastric emptying. 211 calories 30% fat, thats good. 19% protein but not a whole food source! So not the best effect on insulin...thank goodness for the fat to slow it down. 51% carbs...but what type of carbs? Are they complex or simple....the answer is they are simple sugars..CORN Maltodextrin. Complex would be vegetables or fruits. Simple whole carbs would be rice, potato, even whole corn...but not processed corn sugar!!! If you are dealing with Non-insulin dependant diabetes, eat smaller, balanced meals of whole foods more frequently. Additionally, exercise and muscle help the body to be less insulin sensitive. Glucerna: WATER, CORN MALTODEXTRIN, SODIUM AND CALCIUM CASEINATES, SUCROMALT, GLYCERINE, ENOVA OILâ„¢ (DIACYGLYCEROL OIL), SOY PROTEIN ISOLATE, COCOA POWDER (PROCESS WITH ALKAL), FRUCTOSE, LESS THAN 1% OF: CANOLA OIL, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVORS, PLANT STEROL ESTERS, CALCIUM PHOSPHATE, HIGH OLEIC SAFFLOWER OIL, MAGNESIUM CHLORIDE, SODIUM CITRATE, SOY LECITHIN, POTASSIUM CITRATE, MAGNESIUM PHOSPHATE, POTASSIUM CHLORIDE, POTASSIUM PHOSPHATE, CHOLINE CHLORIDE, ASCORBIC ACID, CARRAGEENAN, ACESULFAME POTASSIUM, FERROUS SULFATE, dI-ALPHA-TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, ZINC SULFATE, SUCRALOSE, NIACINAMIDE, CALCIUM PANTOTHENATE, CHROMIUM PICOLINATE, MANGANESE SULFATE, CUPRIC SULFATE, VITAMIN A PALMITATE, PYRIDOXINE HYDROCHLORIDE, THIAMINE CHLORIDE HYDROCHLORIDE, RIBOFLAVIN, FOLIC ACID, BIOTIN, SODIUM MOLYBDATE, POTASSIUM IODIDE, SODIUM SELENATE, PHYLLOQUINONE, VITAMIN D3, AND CYANOCOBALAMIN.
