At the age of 22, I dont think I can ever do another squat again

It was about a month ago when I first got my acute hip flexor injury after my stance on a rep was a bit too wide. it happened in one snap, so I know it was a bad tear. After this, I took a whole two weeks off of legs with stretching and lots of walking and came back to the squats thinking I was in the go, when the pain, even after my weeks off, came back as if I never rested it. So everytime since then that I did squats (two weeks or so until now), Id just have to deal with the pain, making sure to keep perfect form so as not to aggravate it too much. The pain would always be nagging at me but it was very minor as long as I kept my form okay and often faded away completely after a day. But today, it hurt like hell. The most pain Ive ever felt, even more since the initial injury. Im icing it now as we speak, but I think I over did it today. My form is aboslutely perfect, and I even learned that jerking my body as I go up on a squat towards the end helps to take a lot of pressure/stress off the hip flexor. A bit too late for form now, though, and this horrible injury happened JUST as my lower body was becoming so lean and developed and ripped. I am very saddened by this as working out has become so important in my life for the past year and a half. Anyone else overcome a very stressful and repeatedly aggravated injury and make a full recovery? At the age of 22, I really fear that I might not ever do another squat again.

I think this would have been better under injury prevention and rehabilitation, but have you talked to a Dr? I would do really light squats (after a break from squatting of course) and then gradually increase the weight and you should be fine.

Two weeks doesn't seem like a lot of downtime, especially with muscles so frequently used as the hip flexors. You probably should stop doing squats (no matter how good your form is) until you're positive you're ready for them. You're not likely to heal if you keep working the injured muscle(s). And like MVP said, consider seeing a doctor.

what kind of response ar you looking for? Pain is an indicator from your body telling you to slow down. you need to listen to your body. You actually need to see a doctor and quit jumping to conclusions about whether or not you are ever going to be able to squat again. Two weeks off isn't a whole lot of time to rest and recover from a serious injury. I dont mean to be rude, but get real and use some common sense. allow your body to heal it self and if you dont see any results go see a doc. I'm sure everyone on here who has a couple years of lifting behind them has suffered some form of injury. A week after my 19th birthday i hit 309 on the bench, 2 weeks later i tore my AC ligament in my left shoulder while wrestling. I didnt think i would ever be able to lift weights again. I went through a couple months of physical therapy then had surgery and then did some more physical therapy. After surgery it took about 18 months to fully recover. Its still not 100 % but its good enough. when i was 21 i was maxing out on a personal record of 350, on my second rep i felt bubbly feeling in my right pec. I didnt think to much of it at the time. The next week me and my partners were doing reps with 290, on the third rep i felt my right pec tear all the way across. it took about 4-5 months before i was able to start lifting again and even then i still had slight pain, but i started off light with between 135-155 and built back up.

Just one thing.... NEVER, EVER stretch a muscle that had a tear... Now go see a doc, and a physiotherapist to fix it. Rest enough, you are only damn 22...what is the rush ???
Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but some abuse the privilege.

See a doc brother, you're young enough to recover from about anything. I'm 43 and just had my second hernia operation. Was lifting albiet light in about 2.5 weeks and now stronger than ever. Realize you are pretty devastated but the body will heal, just need to get professional to look at you. Keep the faith and you'll be back before you know it.

I have this same problem man. I jacked up my knee. Haven't squated in awhile. The pain, and urge to grab my gp vicodion, leads me to think I might never work out my legs again
