- My Past Experiences With Working Out - It all began a while back when I was about 13. At the time I was living in the U.K. and attending a school named "Rodborough." Of course being at this age I wasn't going to workout because of the health benefits! I started working out because I fancied this girl in my home room. She was a very pretty, slim, and smart brunette...I was a 13 year old boy with a body fat percentage of something ridiculous. I didn't have a chance with a girl like that; I told one of my friends that I liked her and even he said she was way out of my league! What a great friend, where would I be without him? All of this emotion that was stirring up inside of my sad little soul, got me running like a jack rabbit every day after school. I was even eating healthy? I was 13, I didn't even realize you could do that! I considerably dropped my caloric intake, because I thought by eating less I would lose more weight. I wish I knew then what I know now! So me being an endomorph, with a super low calorie deficit, was losing something; But it was probably water, I wasn't good at making sure I had enough each day. So after say?...4 weeks I was looking a little slimmer, but not much. I thought there was something wrong with me. I thought to myself that there were those kids who could eat everything and not have to do anything about it; And how I would like to give them all a slow death, because I thought it wasn't fair. Never the less I couldn't wait any longer! I had to ask this girl out, and I did... She said no, I was too fat (that shallow cow!!!) I quickly forgot about her and got myself consumed with in the world of exercise. I began to learn about fats, proteins, sugars, and carbohydrates. Or at least the basics. I still ate almost nothing, and worked out way to much. Nothing changed in my appearance and I gave up when I was 14. I won't lie to you, I spent many nights crying to myself because I didn't understand. And all the bullying didn't help either. This went on for a while, and it was the most emotionally petrifying thing I have gone through. I felt like the odd one out... But when I turned 15 I added the weight training with cardio, and eating like I would anyway, no special diet. This was working for me, I felt stronger and felt better, but cosmetically I felt and saw nothing but a layer of disgusting fat... Only this time I didn't quit I just kept on going, I knew rewards had to come sometime or another. I finally moved back to the United States; It felt good to be back. It's when I moved to Vermont something just popped up into my head and said, "BODYBUILDING!" It felt like the foot of sense booted me in the face. Well I pared that with that after I had learned with bodybuilding comes fat melting diets and routines. I went about finding information on bodybuilding at the most obvious place - The gym, and bodybuilding.com. I read on this website that eating small meals through out the day was good for your metabolism, but it hurt my brain thinking about trying to make sure I got this much protein and this much of this and AHH! I didn't think I had it in me. I just ate healthy foods and made sure I met my caloric intake everyday. I also had protein shakes after my workouts. I learned about weight training from others in the gym, who were wise, and mean about it because I was bothering them with questions. And everything fell into place rather well. I was doing my running, I was weight training, and it felt awesome! After a while I noticed I was bigger and stronger, but I didn't see any change... It seemed like an impossible quest through the gates of hell... I quit... Which brings me here today more educated on the subject, and really serious about changing my lifestyle. Today I am now doing the training for health benefits, because my Fathers side of the family has a history of heart disease, high blood pressure, and high triglyceride levels. But I can't deny the good body can I! But for anyone who has read this article, you can see everyone has gone through their trials and their errors - Not everyone was dealt the royal flush of genetics. You can give up again and again, but if you don't crack down with the motivation to change your lifestyle and educate yourself. You could be if for a lot of days in front of the mirror and saying, "It's useless!" You just need to stick with it. Goals and motivation are extremely important as well. I wish anyone and everyone the best of luck. -Charles A. Rasmussen

It is a very very deep and meaningful story. I am very touched reading it. Some of us have to go through it. I know that it's not fair but it's life. Heck, life has never been fair to me and to a lot of people out there. Anyway, you have been doing great! I am sure, I know, that that story will help a lot of people, including myself, to overcome our dificulties. I would rate it the highest start if I could, but I have no idea how! Who made this website? Let me tell them what to update...lol Thanks for posting it. I am starting to see the meaning of all of these postings here and there...

My self betterment = Looking good naked Lol. Good story though, I was always the opposite: scrawny. There was a short period of time when I got kinda chubby from all the high calorie foods my mom gave me and my metabolism suddenly slowing. That only lasted about a year though and I was back to scrawny again. Now Im struggling to break 165lbs eating all the food I can.

Hard times is what makes us stronger, from the inside out, bro! We all have stories to tell, don't let your history (baggage) rule you.

That's because you stopped growing, and then hit a growth spurt. Your body needed all those extra calories. I figured that was why but I wasnt positive. I wish there was a way that I could tell how much I am going to grow. I think it is going to be alot. Normally I can go the normal three hours with out food but now an hour after I eat I feel like I havent eaten all day. Did anyone else have a major growth spurt at 15?

Chazz proved that not all Out of Bounds stuff is just chat. That means a lot to me, this being my first major post an all. This article that I wrote, which was so very well described as, "Very you." Was inspired by cpl. I noticed that he obviously was a writer, from the well written and thought out posts he had made. SO, I PMed him, and asked for some tips to better improve my own writing skills. The best thing he could have shared with me was, "Write about what you know, and make it sound like you are actually talking to the person reading." So I did that very thing to the best of my abilities. I think cpl is my muse... lol Now I have decided and shared with DB.Com, that I am going to take a week to research, write and re-write, a research paper on steroids. I'll even have references to wherever I pulled quotes, and little bits of info; Of course I'll have working bibliography too. I am going to make this a full out well written research paper. If it will take longer than a week, well I'll keep you posted and until I am done. Thanks -Chazz
