Arm Fracture - Tuesday, October 17, 2006 3:05 PM ( #1 )
Hi . About 6 years ago I had a bone fracture (the humerus) from arm Wrestling. It was attached by means of a plate and pins and fitted perfectly. From Xrays it has healed completely long ago.

My problem is that when coming to bench pressing I am scared that it will break at some point .

My question is does a fractured bone become as strong as new.

Thanks Agian

First of all, sorry thats its taken someone so long to answer your question.

Bottom line - it will become ALMOST as strong as before but not quite as strong as the original undisturbed bone. Too much pressure on the bone and it will give at its new weakest point - the site of the fracture.

If its been 6 years though, it should be fine now as long as you take a conservative approach to your gym work. Dont push too hard and listen to your body - if it doesnt feel normal, stop and rest. If it starts to hurt, go see your doctor.
