Welcome to DB! First, check out the nutrition forum for some great reading- Start with this link to figure out how many calories a day you'll need to be eating. Too many people make the mistake of thinking the less they eat, the more weight they'll lose- Your body needs a certain amount of calories a day in order to function properly- Without the right amount of calories, your body will have a hard time burning fat. See, when you don't eat enough, your body will think it's being starved, and will try to hold onto fat in order to survive. Eating five or six meals a day, made up of the proper nutrients, will help you lose weight. When your body digests food, it burns calories to do so- If you eat slow burning carbs throughout the day, your body will actually be in a fat burning mode all day long. The key to losing weight is cardio and nutrition, so if getting rid of fat is your main goal, those should be the two areas you research the most here. When it comes to lifting weights, there are plenty of programs to be found in the Training forum- Check out the top posts there for some good info, ask questions, and get started.
