What you need is a grill, some pepper and some top sirloin...
Eat...Lift....Sleep......Repeat

Enjoy the process.. but crave the goal.

b-b-q is probably the healthiest method, but find yourself a george foreman or something like that, use a few spices like a pinch of kosher salt, a pinch of pepper, hot or mild to spice it up, and some othe rspices of choice. maybe some margarim, or lime. it's really up to you, stick to spices.
you have to sweat to achieve your goals.

I never knew adding salt to raw meat makes it dry and tough.

a super easy and fast way to cook steak.. when your BBQ-ing, go down the sauce isle and get a "rub".  the one i like is called "stubbs BBQ rub" its just a powder that you rub into the meat and throw it on. its great!!

I was just at Stubbs in Austin last week and I am wearing my stubbs shirt today.  The food was great there.  They had a book signing there about the original stubbs in Lubbock and the live music scene in Lubbock.  My boss just put out a new album so we went over in a bus and he played a bit.  He is also friends of Billy Gibbons (zz top) and Billy Bob Thorton who came for the show and Billy Gibbons graced us with playing one song on stage, now that was freaking awesome.

That's a great experience tdf700.  I'm kinda jealous!

Does anyone see anything wrong with adding a little sauce to the finished product?  My issue is that I make a ton of chicken brests, turkey burgers, and lean steaks and freeze them.  That's just how I have to do it given that I share a kitchen with a whole dorm.

I have resorted to buying an assortment of sauces to use when I reheat the foods.  I think it might help me stick to my healthy diet, even if it's cheating a little bit.  I went to Whole Foods and bought some organic teriyaki sauce, barbeque sauce, and some balsamic glaze.  They have some calories, but if I use them sparingly I don't think it will affect my nutrition that much.  I just can't eat plain (or even seasoned) chicken breast day in and day out.  The taste is so subtle and annoying.

I want to know if anyone here would reccommend I totally stop?  I don't have any BF% or any stats to see how it's affecting my body makeup but I guess that's the whole game.  It's all about balance.  If you're a competetor, then you have to really sacrifice, which makes it extremely difficult.  You can't have a teaspoon of BBQ sauce or you'll lose a comp.  Any thoughts?

Just kind of venting here.  Just getting back into the forums after a short hiatus due to injury.

Got a George Foreman?  Marinade a sirloin however you like, of course trimming the fat first.  Then throw it on the hot grill, close for 4 minutes, and take it off.  Came out awesome.  Just had it tonight.  Of course, after I took it off, i threw it in a glad container and closed the lid to keep it warm, cause I had to clean the grill and take my stuff out of the kitchen back to my room, so I think it probably continued cooking in the container.

However, I think rare tastes better, as long as it's hot enough, and it's not bad for you.  My buddy eats steak raw whenever we're grilling.  It's more of a show off thing then for enjoyment, but he's pretty well read on nutrition and health and he says it's not bad or you.  Ground beef?  Don't eat that raw...ever.   Anyways...I also had some sweet potato salad with it.  Damn good.

IMO steak is one of the best tasting meats money can buy, i don't know what kind of steak you buy, but in the uk, a rump steak or sirloin is best when it is cooked very simply. Firstly put a tiny drop of oil on the steak and rub it all over, then get your pan very very hot. Because you oiled the steak you do not need to oil the pan, so it is much more healthy. Cook as normal however you like it, but only season (salt, pepper) after it is seared, or it will draw out the moisture and become tough (i reccomend rare, the only way to eat a steak!) then the most important thing for a tasty steak. LEAVE IT IT TO REST. thats right, take it off the heat and rest the meat for as long as you have cooked it! this allows the meat a chance to relax and the juice to flow back into all sections of the steak, making a much juicier, tastier steak.

I like it with some steamed spinach and broccoli, what could be better.

Ok this is kind od similar to danmacs suggestion: Buy a george foreman or grill (but the george is brilliant). Its simple but nice! Cut away all the fat from the steak (get a nice big thick one), simply add a few pepper corns, little bit of salt and cook for around 12 mins, it sounds boring, but it is really quite nice

you'll need mangos, limes, cilantro, beansprouts, steak and access to a grill. you can get the bean sprouts and cilantro at a local asian market. costs about $1.15 for a gallon bag of each. also, they are grown locally and are usually no more then 2 days old.
to prep the sauce cut the limes and extract the juice + pulp into a large shallow container.
slice the mango lengthwise squeeze half over the container you extracted the lime juice into to remove the juice. this is uber messy so don't wear a shirt you like. save the other half for a post cooking garnish.
cut the steak into thin strips and then marinate the filets in cilantro/lime/mango juice for 45 minutes in the fridge if you are pressed for time. if not, overnight works very well.
grilling them is best, this way you don't have to use oil. sear rare and when you flip them, drizzle with the juice concoction.
wash the bean sprouts and use as a bedding. make sure to serve them raw. place the filets over the bean sprouts and section pieces of the mango you didn't use and place them on the plate.
--or-- if you are really pressed for time
you can skip the marinade part and cook the steak as is. make the sauce a stand alone dipping item. i normally do the second since you can prep the sauce as you cook the steak. total time is dependent on the temp you like your steak.

For my cut I've been eating steak 2-3 times a day, usually rump.

Trust me on this:
Add a bit of oregano on both sides, a dash of salt and pepper, and a fair bit of lemon juice.
Tastes great when it's cooked.

its pretty simple to make good steak, all i do is put the steak in a skillet, use one of those peppercorn pepper grinders to put some pepper on each side as they brown, while your doin this do the same with sea salt, not regular salt, sea salt makes steak awesome, then i put a little worchesti... how ever you spell it on. keep turning over medium to medium high heat till its just a little pink in the middle, very good very simple.
for added carbs with good taste try baked potatoes with sea salt on the outside, the flavor is incredible
