Anabolic Diet - Monday, June 02, 2008 4:41 PM
Has anyone heard of this diet? It's similar to a keto diet but not exactly.

It looks really interesting and from what i've been reading about it on t-nation people have seemed to get good results with it while eating a lot of food (and a lot of it being unhealthy food, not that i'd go for all sausage and bacon though).

what do you think about it?

Keto/Anabolic Diet - Tuesday, June 03, 2008 10:34 AM
ive read some about the anabolic diet which is basically a keto diet but IMO it could be fixed up a lot. i wouldnt advocate eating sausage and bacon all the time and pizza and beer on the weekends like it does

When i did a keto diet i was pretty damn full and my taste buds changed. like now i love peanut butter so much but on keto i couldnt stand when i had to eat 1/4 cup of it.

i always thought i put so much fat on but i dont think i did considering overall weight gain, especially for me.

Unfortunately i didnt have the most acurate method of testing bf% then but the results were
fat: gained 3.6lb.
LBM: gained 9.1lb.

for me that ratio is actually pretty damn good especially considering i was eating 3800 calories or so a week.
Also keep in mind that thats 9.1lb. of Lean Mass so even with the drop in water weight and glycogen it still went up 9.1lb. so i'd guess if it wasnt for those 2 factors it would be atleast around 11lb.

so actually looking back on it it was good, i liked the food and honestly i would probably feel i could cheat a little more on it. i wouldnt suggest a 2 day carb up though, i've heard some say to only have 3 meals instead of a whole day for carbing up but that was for fat loss.

all in all i'd like to try going back to it again and adding in the calories more gradually but the acne i got from it and the oily skin just wasn't worth it. maybe over the summer i'll try it for 4 weeks but i doubt it. i know dapunisher has had some amazing results with keto.

I couldn't do a day with 30 carbs or less, that is just ridiculous.

Wow. has anyone actually done this diet? Does it work? And if anyone did do it what kinda affects did it take on your GI system? I am seriously considering this diet...however skeptical because of its taboo nature. Someone whos done this thing break it down.

it a good diet for cutting, i didnt like it for bulking as much.  only thing i didnt like about it was it caused my face to breakout.  i imagine it was b/c of the amount of fat raising natural test.

same with me unfortunately. thats why im hesitant to try it again. i'm on solodyn but i dont think thats strong enough to keep me from breaking out again. and either way i'd have to deal with oily skin

so u did it for bulking and cutting in the past?

wait lol does this work for bulking??

breaking out...idk but that seems like a good thing to me, elevated test.  Youd also look leaner because of less carbs...I dont really like eatin carbs to begin with...

Itd be to cool to bulk with little carbs except rigth before and after lifting if that would work.

didnt u read my post to begin with? i gained over 9lb. of LBM (and thats with water and glycogen loss) and 3lb. of fat (according to my method of testing bf%) in 7 weeks so yea it can definitely be used for bulking.

as far as breaking out...no, it is not a good thing at all. sure u have elevated hormones but acne sucks.

as far as u trying this diet if thats what u had in mind i wouldn't recommend u do it.
