RE: Keto/Anabolic Diet

I was burning 1k cals/day in the morning doing cardio. I used to workout in the afternoons. I took 1/2 scoop whey and 1 scoop xtend before I did cardio... so it was basically on an empty stomach. Now that I do cardio post workout I find it much better in helping me burn fat. I only do 15-20 minutes depending on the day. ORIGINAL: David1991 with any luck it'll help me from having constant energy fluxuations too. i remember that being the case last time but i was eating so much back then dapunisher why is it that u need so much less calories now even with a higher bodyweight just from switching to a tkd? it seems odd that u would be able to grow with 4000 when it was taking near 5000 before at a lower weight

I've been reading about the anabolic diet for a few days now and it's very hard to make up my mind. Some talk about how great it is to have extremely low carbs even when bulking to stay lean and add muscle. others say that it's better to use it for cutting but not bulking. and then still theres the ones who suggest full refeed days while others perfer one-three refeed meals, and others suggest having pwo carbs and then a still having a refeed day every 5-7 days or so. it's so confusing and theres so much conflicting advice. i mean clearly some have gotten great results from it like dapunisher and he used to be fat from what i've read on here so it seems like it could work for me. i guess the only way to know would be to try it

The refeed carb day you're talking about is only done on the CKD diet. The one that I'm using is kind of like TKD where you take carbs pre and post workouts. On TKD there's no need for refeed carb days. ORIGINAL: pumped340 I've been reading about the anabolic diet for a few days now and it's very hard to make up my mind. ORIGINAL: Marc David Are we talking about the Anabolic Diet by Dr. Mauro Di Pasquale? well that was the diet i was talking about in general but really im talking about a very low carb or keto diet and modifications on them. i definitely wouldnt be eating loads of sausage and bacon and having a 2 full day carb up like in the original AD ORIGINAL: dapunisher The refeed carb day you're talking about is only done on the CKD diet. The one that I'm using is kind of like TKD where you take carbs pre and post workouts. On TKD there's no need for refeed carb days. so you've noticed better results from a TKD over a CKD for bulking?

Yeah. What do you know about it marc? got any advice? I have the PDF and the first thing I noticed was the HUGE BOLD face that said do not start this diet without your initial blood work and okay from your doctor. I'm going to guess most people won't do this and they they'll try and modify it. Otherwise, I have not read the entire book yet to really make comments.

Never read Anabolic Diet article but I get blood checks done regularly. Blood checks should be staples for any bodybuilder, not only the ones on a "specialized" diet like this. Pumped: Type Anabolic Diet in google or yahoo search, I'm sure you'll find it.

ORIGINAL: David1991 i just got it for free lol after reading over keto diets and the AD for the last few days (and from reading about keto awhile ago) i have never seen a diet with more controversy and difference of opinions, specifically about bulking with it. You are so right. I just finished reading Anabolic Solution (which is about the Anabolic Diet/Metabolic Diet) and even internally (in my mind) I was wrestling with the concepts. At times something just clicks and makes sense. At other times the same thing just seems wrong. I honestly believe you just have to try different things to see what works for you. Nutrition is a very personal subject. No two people will nail it on the exact same nutritional approach. I have to give this alot more thought, but I know for sure that I am carb sensitive. I did a modified Velocity Diet and kept my carbs very low and did quite well on it. That's the one thing that keeps coming to mind as I read about the Anabolic Diet--when I was doing protein shakes and very very very little carbs, I gained LBM and I dropped fat and that was just in 4 weeks time. What I found hard about the Velocity Diet was the restriction to just protein shakes. I keep thinking that with the Anabolic Diet, I can eat chicken, lean steak, etc. and still keep the carbs low and get the same kind of results long term. The one difference is that it would be so much easier to keep my calories at a respectable bulking level using real food protein sources rather than protein shakes. I have a few weeks to make a decision as I am trying hard to stick to the plan I'm currently working. I don't want to jump from one thing to another or I will never know what truly works for me. This has been a very intersting thread to follow.

yea i know exactly what u mean. i know i'm carb sensitive and it seems like it could work for me. i keep thinking about my last keto diet and the good results was the amount of muscle, i mean i remember my arms going up pretty fast and i feel like if i just didnt have such an excess of calories i could stay lean on the diet. but also, like u, i dont want to jump from one thing to the next so i'm tempted to stay with what i'm at for the 6 weeks of H1 in NROL and then maybe i could go do keto for H2 (except for those first 3.5 weeks of it i wouldnt be at home so it could be difficult for that to work). honestly my main concern is the acne but no one i've talked to (probably over 10 people on the diet) says they've gotten it real bad like i did, either none or just a little bit if u want i can send u the anabolic diet and keto diet (by lyle mcdonald) pdf's
