Hey, welcome to DB quote:
Is it possible??? Hell yes!!! What kind of equipment do you have? Flat bench, incline bench, leg attachment, dumbbells? This way one of us can give you some great exercises to do and maybe help design a routine.

Cool! I basically have everything because I will be using the equipment at school. I will be having a weight training class where all we do is work out. It has some leg machines but not really any upper body machines. I dont know much about this so please bear with me! I really dont know where to start!

This is definately the time. Lee Preist had a championship physique at age 13. Just make sure you eat right. When I was a kid a lot of the skinny guys ate a lot of junk food thinking they would gain weight that way. They did. In the gut. Eat the brussel sprouts and spinach that your mom cooks and don't take that second helping of potatoes. Try to take the chicken breast before your dad can get to it and you'll be alright. Good luck!

I know I wont be a huge body builder but I just want to considerably gain size and muscle I guess. I can be disciplined enough and I want to commit to this! I should have a weekly routine, right? I will be in the gym every day for school. Should I work out something different every day and than rest on the weekends? What should my diet consist of? I heard that you have to eat a lot. What should I do? Any help will be great.

For breakfast you can't go wrong with eggs, whole wheat bread, and a hot cereal. Cream of wheat keep you filled up as long as oatmeal and cream of rye. Most people say no sugar in your cereal but I don't think there's not much wrong with a little bit of brown sugar. I use sweet and low because it's free and raisins. Sometime's Mid morning I'll eat an apple, orange, or bananna with some reduced fat peanut butter or natural peanut butter. Around 12 or 1 o'clock I'll have a sandwhich. Turkey breasts, chicken breasts, or tuna. Sometime's I'll indulge and have roast beef or turkey pastrami. I never use mayonaise except in my tuna and even then it's reduced fat. Spicy mustard can go a long way. Throw some leaves of lettuce or spinach on your sandwhich and a couple slices of tomato. I keep all the ingredients in their own bag and put them together at my desk. About 3 o'clock I have one slice of whole wheat bread with some peanut butter and maybe a peice of fruit or a couple of fig newtons. I always have wheat bread, peanut butter, and fig newtons at my desk. I keep my mayonaise in the fridge at work. I'm assuming you go to school so be careful with your food. Make sure you keep it in a cool dry place. When I went to school I dropped my lunch off in my favorite teacher's classroom so I don't have to worrya bout it. 5 o'clock protein shake once I get home from work Dinner I'll eat sauteed spinach with onions and mushrooms, rice and some meat. Lean steak, fish, and chicken breasts are bodybuilding staples. Personally, I don't think there's not much wrong with a thick steak with some nice fatty marblizing. Now, I'm sure your parents aren't going to spend that much money to make sure you eat "bodybuilding" food. So whatever your mom cooks should be fine as long as you're getting a good amount of meat and vegetables. I'm poor right now so I usually have a couple of chicken thighs and drumstick even though those are the fattiest parts of the chicken, they're the cheapest and its better the next cheapest meat at the store-ground beef. I usually work out at 8 or 9 pm and I'll have another peice of meat with a couple stalks of asparagas, brocolli, or some spinach (again. I yams what I yam and that's all that i yams!) and a protein shake. Protein shake before I go to bed. Make sure you get 8 hours of sleep. I never do. I wish I did but I have to wake up in the morning and start over again.

Well I will be able to work out the diet thing. I will be able to have some eggs and oat meal for breakfeast. I can make lunch and bring food to "snack break" which is between breakfeast and lunch. Should I pack like a protein bar or protein shake for snack break? For lunch I guess I should have some fruit and like a tuna sandwich with wheat bread. Ill probably get a little salad too. No lunchroom food! I will be working out around 2:30-3:15. Than I can eat after school. When I get home I can have dinner too. What kind of protein drinks should I get? Money isnt a huge issue with me but I dont want to go all out. For dinner its usually just meat and veggies anyway. I live with my dad and brother. Should I eat anything after dinner? Im guessing that you just need to be nurished throughout the whole day. So how does all this sound? I want to get this all together because I want to start when school gets back in. What about a routine? I will be int he gym every day. Should I work out different things every day? Im supposed to give the muscle time to heal, right? Why is this? Im really eager to learn all of this! Thank you guys so much for your help and sorry for all the freakin questions! I just dont want to end up waisting my time. I want to do this right!

yes, definetly dont eat the school food. snack break thats awesome. wish i had that back in the day. you can eat a protein bar then if you want to, but its a must that you eat one before your workout. ok ill lay down a routine for you. monday chest-incline bench-flat bench-flies-decline bench tuesday triceps-close grip bench-skull crushers-push downs biceps-standing ez bar curl-preacher curl-alternating dumbbell curl wednesday legs-squats-leg extensions-leg curls-calf raises thursday shoulders-sitting dumbbell millitary press-side lateral raise-bent over rear lateral raise traps-dumbbell or barbell shrugs friday back-deadlifts-wide grip pull downs- bent over rows-close grip cable rows saturday rest sunday rest your first set should be a warmup set at about half of your starting workout weight. but only do a warmup for each bodypart not each exercise. example-on chest day you will only do one warmup set but on tuesday you will do one tricep warm up and one bicep warm up. if you have the time do 3 working sets for each exercise. on the first set you should select a weight that will inable you to do no more or no fewer than 8 reps. next set add about 10lbs and do 6 reps. next set add 10lbs and do 4 reps. move on to the next exercise and do the same. the amount of time you rest inbetween sets depends on you. i personally like 3-4 minutes. you can take only 1-2 if you like. just be rested enough for the next set. i dont know if you have access to the gym on sat and sun. if you do you can move the workout days around. you can work in abs about 3-4 days anywhere in the week. anything you didn't understand let us know. like if you need us to explain how to do a certain exercise. or if you dont have the right equipment we can add in a different exercise. eat within a half an hour after you workout. tell dad or your bro to have dinner ready early.

Ok, I know what all the chest and bicept exercises are. I dont know what a close grip bench is. And dont you have to have that machine thing to do the push downs? I know how to do all the leg excersises. I dont know what any of those exercises for the shoulders are. With the back I dont know anything about those excersises. quote:
I dont know what a close grip bench is. almost the same as a flat bench press. place your hands on the bar with a shoulder width grip. you can go a little closer together but to close and you place a lot of stress on your wrists. now unrack the bar and lower it but keep your elbows against your body. if your elbows come away from your body you are taking the resistance off your triceps and placing it onto your chest. which is not what you want. ok so lower it down to where you would on a regular bench press. basically across your nipples or maybe a little lower. thats about it. quote:
And dont you have to have that machine thing to do the push downs? yes you will need a high pulley for these. same thing as in the pic bigjon posted. if you dont have access to a high pulley you can do kick backs which work the same area of the tricep.

I know what all the excersises are except the bent over lateral raise. Im not sure if there are any lat towers in this gym. Its kind of small. After I get this straight Ill be ready. Now about the diet. Im thinking that I eat six times a day: Breakfeast- eggs or oatmeal "Snack Break"- should I have like a protein shake or a protein bar and a banana? Lunch- A tuna sandwich on wheat bread and a salad Workout Before Dinner- Rest of protein shake or a protein bar or some kind of sandwich? Dinner Before Bed- not sure Will all this working out form deffinition and size? Or just like mass? I have a low body fat percentage. Does this affect anything. Thanks for the help!

Sorry I havnt been on. Ive been on vacation. i just started the weight training class yesterday. The gym is really cool and it does have a lat tower. I will be able to do pretty much all those excersizes. Im going to get food for my diet on Thursday. The teacher had us make a routine, but i already had one! Thanks Xmas! We are also supposed to have a goal but Im not sure how much weight I can gain in the next 36 weeks. im hoping 10 but i dunno. Everything is good. Right now Im seeing what weight I can handle and what not. Than next week Im going to start the routine. This class is actually really challanging. If he doesnt see that we are serious he fails us until we drop the class. Thanks so much for all the help. Im glad I came here because it turns out so many people give bad advice.
