yeah so this crap came out yesterday and ppl have been asking about it at work (even though its on the shelves ppl still want to ask a pharm about it). its basically half the dose of xenical and orlistat is the main ingredient. its a fat binder (or as my pharm likes to say "it prevents the absorbtion of fat by up to 30%"). that stuff is all fact and this is when opinion starts. its crap; literally it will make u $hit like crazy; and not the fun ones, im talking the no matter how much u wipe u still gotta jump in the shower after type stuff. also theirs a couple of customers that take xenical and i have seen absolutly no difference in their apparence (and they ask how im so fit; mmmmmmmmmm thats tough well i work out everyday and eat pretty good; but they always shake their heads and just say "its cuz ur young"; good 4 u fatty). anyways i have actually taken xenical (we got samples a year or so back and my pharm knows i"ll do just about anything so i was the guniea pig). i literally was $hitting salad dressing, it was so oily and nasty and this wasn't now and then, it was 3-4 times a day. it was for only a week so of course it didn't make a difference in terms of weight but the sides were pretty nasty. so basically what im trying to say here is stick with a healthy diet, cardio and man scorch or some other thermogenic.

Yeah I've been reading up on this out of curiosity. Its going to be huge. And its going to be a mess. What a horrible, horrible decision they made when this became FDA approved for Over-the-Counter use. To me taking this is along the lines of bulimia. But unlike bulimia, those taking these will often not be able to control when they take the action to rid themselves of what they just ate. Remember in the 1980s and early 90s when fat free diets were all the rage? There was no concept of good fats and bad fats. In fact there was no other culprits in the obisity epidimic other than dietary fat. It was said everywhere - 'Fat is caused by fat. If you eat fat, you'll be fat.' Fat free sweets lined the shelves of America and people ate them guilt free. And America got fatter. This was not the correct way to go about a healthy lifestyle. So people realized this and came to the conclusion to add fat back in, just eliminate carbs. Again, only causing the obesity problem to get worse in the long run. So now.... We decide to eliminate the fat again. Only this time by creating the next 'magic' pill. And the FDA is on board. Oh boy! Lets eat our full fat junk food and have our body's reject it. Even though we know (or we should no) elimination of dietary fat is not the answer (a balanced diet is), lets look at the other side effects of this new wonder drug. I've read other who have taken this, not Alli but the previous perscription form. There is no way to put this other than you crap your pants. And its not the normal crap you're use to. Its now a much stronger smelling, bright orange running mess. Many people say this happened to them when out, at work etc. You think you have a little gas, but thats not what comes out. When you actually make it to the toliet its not much more pleasant. This Alli**** doesn't flush easily. Your oily orange stools float on the water and take 5-6 flushes to finally go down. And I hope you don't have company (or family) using the same restroom as you, as the smell will be hanging around a while. Still the makers of this drug will make a fortune. Weight control is a multi-billion dollar business and as long as people are looking for answers outside of proper nutrition, weight-training and cardio exercise it will continue to be.

this is taken str8 from the write up on xenical (and all the research, which is what the fda based its approval off of, was done on dosages of orlistat found in xenical not half the dosage that is found in alli). anyways so it said something like in a year, 50% of ppl lost 5% of their body weight and 25% lost 10% (and i think i rounded those numbers up alittle bit for easy math). so basically lets just figure a 150 pound lady (thats the ones who have all been coming in and buying it at $50 a pop or something like that and i think one bottle= a month supply but remember its half the dosage as the prescription stuff) so thats $600 ($1200 to get prescription dosages) to potentially lose between 7.5 to 15 pounds and ur crapping like crazy. another interesting point of interest, roche (maker of xenical) patent was extended to 2009 a few years back but suddenly glaxosmithkline (second biggest pharmaceutical company after pfizer) wants an otc version and gets it, hmmmmmmmmmmm.

If you actually read the product guidelines and stopped criticizing people, you'd realize that when taking Alli you MUST NOT consume more than 15 grams of fat during a meal, and a complete diet overhaul is necessary while supplementing. They do an excellent job of setting diets up, giving you good ideas of what you can eat as well. The kits also provide diet plans that actually aren't half bad. I don't really care for the product, but hey, if taking a product is what's going to make you change your diet, I'm all for it.

People are always looking for the magic/wonder pill. Come on local how many people do you actually think are going to change their diet, because a product recommends it.The majority of people want the product to do the work for them, and only want to make very little or no changes in their current lifestyle.

ORIGINAL: localoutoftowner If you actually read the product guidelines and stopped criticizing people, you'd realize that when taking Alli you MUST NOT consume more than 15 grams of fat during a meal, and a complete diet overhaul is necessary while supplementing. Yeah, yeah I've heard this too. 'It works because it won't allow me to eat fat.' Hey, just don't eat poorly in the first place. Do you really need to be threatend with ****ting your pants to eat right? ORIGINAL: localoutoftowner They do an excellent job of setting diets up, giving you good ideas of what you can eat as well. The kits also provide diet plans that actually aren't half bad. I'm all for giving good eating plans. Bravo for them. But if you're eating right you don't need this horrible pill anyway. ORIGINAL: localoutoftowner I don't really care for the product, but hey, if taking a product is what's going to make you change your diet, I'm all for it. People are desperate for a pill. They've been telling themselves their whole lives that technology will soon come up with a way that they will be fit and it will require no effort. Big companies realized this are making billions. This is just the latest. This is not going to help people. A pill of this type should be reserved for dangerously obese people and even then under a doctor's supervision. This being over-the-counter will be horribly misued by many including teenagers. In Canada, they are already having Alli commercials showing model type figures. Products like this are all about making cash at the expense of its customer's health. The fact is you don't need a pill and things like this getting approved by the FDA is just making it more difficult for people to realize that. Its been that way forever - all it takes is nutrition and exercise. Its been that way the entire lives of the people trying one pill or fad diet after another. And it will still be that way when these people pass on after spending their entire lives overweight searching for the miracle pill. And all the time these supplement companies are getting richer and richer.

I agree with local on almost every subject that comes up. Changing of the diet is great if people take the pill seriously then perhaps they can see results from the diet change. The stradegy behind the pill is what bothers me our bodies need fat for endless reasons and the FDA is really F'n the general public on this one I'd have to say. I hate the FDA and how they have handled many things in the dietary field (to numerous to name). This pill is bringin them soooooo much cash from this industry that they have been just lick'n thier chops about. In all relaity most people will buy the pill neglect instructions and the FDA will have made thier money whilst the customer gives up after about 2-3 weeks (just like the average joe dieter).

We're talking about this product as if it's going to be taken correctly, not neglecting the serving size and not abused. This could go for the effectiveness of anything. People neglet serving sizes of diet pills, take one a day (When it should be 3 twice a day), don't see results and write it off as the worst diet pill ever. I think before buying this product you should definetely do some reading and find out if it's right for you. Every person that has purchased this product me has been forced to read the pamphlet before hand, lol. I make sure they know what they're jumping into and what's necessary. Unfortunately, they also sell this at Wal-Mart and everywhere else. All of you guys do have good points though.
