ORIGINAL: Coop

Yeah, get the sleep in when you feel you need it, your body will tell you when it is exhausted...

I wouldnt try to get 6/2 each day, more when you feel you need it... There can be times I dont get much sleep at all, but I feel fine, then there are times I can get 9-10 hours and it still isnt enough..

Sorry coop..this is not right.  We are talking about the best sleep pattern for recovery and fat loss.  That is 8 hours at night +-.

If you feel good it is not an indicator that your fat loss is optimal, just that other chemicals like nor-epinepdrine, dopamine, adrenaline are optimal (which is NOT necessarily optimal for fat loss or recovery.)

Tha body will not tell you when it is tired, it may simply boost you with adrenalin and cortesol...oops.  That is why you feel fine coop!!!

When you sleep 9-10 hours, your system gets dopey/sleepy and you feel less rested because you over-slept!

another quick question:

How much stock should I put into the whole "you shouldn't eat XX hours before you go to bed"??

How late is "too late" to eat at night before bed before you start doing yourself harm?

Ignore it completely.

Eat every 3 hours you are awake, per your meal plan.  If you are up later than usual, thn have a smaller complete meal at a normal interval.

You can eat within 45 minutes of bed...closer than that is also fine but it is possible that sleep or digestion might suffer.

I can eat right up to 20 minutes before bed.  Some people really need the 45 minutes because they have a slower digestion or have not yet recovered from GERD or some other "self inflicted" ailment.

I can eat pretty late with no problems, but the closer to bed I eat, the less quality sleep I tend to get... It seems that I may fall asleep fine but I get a gigantic burst of energy a hour or so later... I try to cut the simple carbs before bed to combat this.. not sure if it works though..
Eat...Lift....Sleep......Repeat

Enjoy the process.. but crave the goal.

Well...that is usually a stress hormone issue...unless you eat sugars and then it could be a blood sugar issue.

Eating Carbs releases serotonin...which can help you sleep.
High protein releases dopamine which can wake you up!
