hi im new to this page and bodybuilding. Ive been working out for like a month 1/2 or so and just read something about when you work out (the abs) you should do it 3 or 4 times a week but that was for an adult. So im 14 and I work my abs nearly every day in 4 reps of 20...is that ok or should i change it?
Thans for the help

every muscle group need time to heal no matter what age you are. Even though abs are a small muscle group and heal relatively fast it's not really a good thing to do them every day. every other day should be fine, and in the long run be more beneficial.

Doing ab workouts every day might help with overall endurance but it will do nothing to make them bigger or show more.

1. If you want abs to show you need to have abs. Train them 2x a week some exercises with weight
2. Diet. In order for them to show you need a low percentage of body fat
3. Doing 1000 crunches a day will not accomplish what you want. Unless the goal is to do 1000+ crunches a day.

Here's a typical ab routine:

Hanging leg raises 3 sets, 15-25 reps
Superset to:
Hanging knee ups (bent-knee leg raises) 3 sets, 15-25 reps
Incline Revere Crunches 3 sets, 15-25 reps
Weighted Cable Crunches 3 sets, 10-25 reps

yeah don't go crazy training your abs because they need to recover too. also make sure our diet is good to show them off because they could be the best and biggest abs ever but if they are covered with fat nobodys going to see them.Smile
