A weekend off - Sunday, July 13, 2008 11:10 PM
Well, since Im going on vacation for about 4-5 days and wont be able to lift, I was just wondering what do you guys do when you take a week off? I'll try to be careful with my diet, but other than that is there anything specific thats good to do?

You need a week off from time to time to let your muscles and CNS fully recover. Just eat well and enjoy yourself.

How long have you been lifting back to back without a rest period?

reconditioning is what it's called.   like already mentioned.. 8 weeks lifting, 1 week off is a good standard to follow.  you'll be fine.  rest is good for you and you might just come back STRONGER than when you left.

I just came back from a break and ended up WEAKER. Felt pretty awful, haha.

I didn't think I was super weak, but my delts were terrible. I think it's from playing tennis all last week.

well, you didn't rest then.   if you're running around swing your arms/shoulders all week, then when are you supposed to rest/heal/recondition?

and... remember, i said you Might just come back stronger.  doesn't always work out that way, but you somewhat hindered yourself from knowing due to the tennis multiple times per week.

(hey dude.. i understand, tennis is addicting. i woulda done the same thing)
