Hey I have been on a diet/workout plan for about 2 months now and am seeing amazing results. I started at about 255lbs and am currently about 219lbs. I know this is much more than the 1-2lbs per week scale, but I am insanely hydrated, and am eatting enough to keep myself full 95% of the day. My target weight is 200lbs even. After I reach 200lbs I plan on gaining only muscle weight back. My question is how many calories a day do I REALLY need in order to put on serious muscle? All these 2500+calorie a day diets I see seem like they'd be SO much to consume and work off every day. Thanks for your help,

18 pounds a month...outstanding.
That is a 2000 calorie a day deficit...
How much are you eating?

Every one has a different metabolism.
IF you know how much you are eating right now...you can easily add 1500 calories to that and watch your body composition.  But start by adding 500 calories at a time...

Only change as much as you need to to get the changes you want.  As you gain muscle you will eventually have to eat more to retain it.

Are you tracking body composition?  See, in a serious deficit, the body dumps muscle as fast as it can for reasons of preservation...it NEEDS to slow the metabolism and muscle burns calories!

I hope that is not a low carb diet...Smile

Apologies for the cautionary tales, but I have seen it soooo many times.

Yes, it is unfortunatly a LOW carb diet, but not a 0% carb diet. I know both the positives and negatives of low carb diets, and for right now, a low carb diet is right for me as the first thing that was needed was to get rid of that damn gut I had. I am now down to 211lbs, and only 11 more pounds, and I will thankfully start eatting as close to 60% protein, 30% carbs, 10% fats as I possibly can.
Right now I am eatting about 1.5lbs of lean turkey/chicken breast a day, a large salad(no dressing), and 2 muscle milk shakes every day. I spread it all out so it ends up being 6 small to moderate sized meals a day.
I am currently on Muscle Milk, Glutamine powder, Centrum One-a-Day, Vitamin C pills, Fish Oil pills, Gakic(on workout days), and Novedex XT and ZMA(both once a day right before bed). I am thinking about starting Nitrix and Leukic when I start trying to ADD weight again.
I just want to get a sample meal plan I guess so I can see how other people eat when trying to gain as much muscle as possible. I saw 2 sample meal plans in Muscle and Fitness during the past 2 months, but they are each only 7 days long, and I would be lost as what to eat after that. Thanks for all your help

Soo, a good part of that weight is water, you know that..and you will gain it back when you start eating carbs normally again.

Also you won't gian muscle while low carb...so lose the fat slow.

Ha ha!
You want someone to plan all your meals! Hee hee hee...

Look here for some info on meal planning:
For Gaining Mass
http://www.discussbodybuilding.com/For_Gaining_Mass/m_111173/tm.htm

So, you take every 7 day meal plan you can find and tweak em one meal at a time to meet your needs and you end up with 100s of meal possibilities after 6 months...

Just figure out what a perfect meal looks like (calories, carbs, protein, fats)  make one then, wash, Rinse and repeat.
