A Question that needs to be addressed concerning NO XPLODE - Wednesday, May 03, 2006 6:10 PM
if you consume too much glutamine while taking it what happens?

Is it dangerous, or does it just lessen the effects

right now my protein supp has 4 gms of glutamin per serving and I take 2 scoops a day but Im sure I get more glutamine in my diet from the rest of the food im eating

How concerned should I be?

Sounds like you're taking On Whey protein. I do believe it has something to do with lessening the effects of the No-Xplode. Do a search for glutamine/no-xplode and I'm sure you can find something.

Jram said this in a post similar to this...

The question of taking an NO product and L-Glutamine comes up often. As you know, AKG/AAKG are vasodiolators and convert to Nitric Oxide Gas. The nitric oxide gas expands our blood vessels which will accelerate a certain amount of blood, oxygen & nutrients that travel to the muscle tissue.

Nitric Oxide and L-Glutamine will work together to a certain extent. However, LG (a nitrogen transporter to the muscle cell) is not bonded to an AKG/AAKG and when an excessive amount of LG is taken, it doesn't know where to go in the body. This will cause less absorption of the NO into your system because now the excess LG will convert to ammonia which will then prevent some of the transformation of AKG/AAKG to NO. That's why some supps containing an NO formula will state not to take more than "X number" of grams of L-Glutamine per day with an NO supp.

Further, an increase in ammonia can have a toxic effect and may lead to a decrease in specific enzymes & increase damage to cells by generating free radicals.

Hope this helped, heres the link to it...

I know Universal Nutrition's Shock Therapy has antioxidants in them to combat the free radicals. Def something to look into in the future. I find it works much better than No-Xplode at a much more affordable price.

Well I'm taking this why protein that has 4 grams of Glutamine per scoop, I take 2 scoops a day, thats 8grams of glutamine just from my protein shakes...I usually also have one large serving of chicken each day which is said to have like .34grams of glutamine per 3oz....so roughly between the chicken and the protein im taking like 10 grams of glutamine...and possibly one or 2 miscelleanous grams from other sources...I don't eat red meat at all in any form...so that keeps the glut down a bit but is there glutamin in egg whites?

what other foods are high in glutamine so I know to avoid them

is 10-12 grams an acceptable level of glut or should I just cut back my protein shake to one scoop a day

or one and a half scoops?
