ORIGINAL: Dancefit So yeah. My routine is still ok without it. The comp is 2 weeks away, and if I don't post a video to you Linda, before the event, I will let you know how I went, and I will send you a copy of the actual routine on stage... if I don't trip over. I cannot wait!! Best of luck!! Linda

Oh yeah, for sure... wouldn't go on stage knowing that I could screw this up easily... I mean, I have it down pat but am thinking of taking out the straddle jump as it flows better without it. Just finished practicing. Did it five times in a row, and will be staggering out the door in a minute. It's looking good... but I am starting to get a little nervous knowing that the time is near!! And I hope this doesn't mean nerves will take over on stage. I am confident in front of people; but having all eyes on me (400 - 500 pairs of eyes) is going to freak me out a tad. I just got my one arm push ups lower that time! It was a matter of positioning my feet in the right spot. Touched the ground when doing with right arm... not yet left. :)

omg, do you know how many times I blanked on stage???? Just for sec, but because I knew my routine soooo well, I was able to do a few dance moves while I was blank then get right back into the routine - not a soul knew I screwed up...............one of my pro cards was attained when i had a pulled groin! I thought I was for sure a gonner, I competed anyway but did not expect anything but last place, my straddle hold came with a huge PAIN face......people even saw I was in pain through my smile but as luck would have it, because it was so polished I won and got my CNBF pro card that year!! It is all over. There ended up being only 2 people in the fitness category. Two days before the comp I had the organiser asking me if If I wanted to go into the physique category, so that both me and my competitor would receive first place trophies.. he was still going to let me do the aerobic routine... (the majority of participants received first place trophies, because there were enough categories to share around). I refused this, as I would rather come second competing against someone as opposed to coming first competing against no-one. I told him it was pointless, and he told me I would be the physique champion, therefore I would come back the following year to defend my championship! hmm, no.. so I stayed in fitness, and I'm glad I did.. even though I came second. I did my routine perfectly. However, the whole glamour thing was over emphasised throughout our stage presence. The MC kept calling us glamour girls (as we were presented on stage with the glamour girls), and we had to strut and pose.. which I was never warned about prior, it was throws at us on stage.. "stut girls, show them what you've got".. it should have been "now, front double bi's please ladies". I didn't practice strutting, and although I can walk in the platforms, I was still a little embarrassed. I think the judges were going more for confidence with this whole aspect of "fitness". I wish they gave me a chance to define the term so that they could clearly see that fitness was not flaunting around on stage, but instead a high level of endurance, strength and flexibility. So yeah, I emailed the coordinator and told him I had a lot of fun, and that I would enter again next year.. but I mentioned that they should put the fitness girls with the athletic girls. I got a reply saying something along the lines of this being the international way things are done... or I may have misunderstood as I was going cross-eyed with the thought of my interpretation of what he meant. ??

You may want to research other federations, they can vary in the rules, regs and whole format of the class whether its figure or fitness. And they can change each year, this fed may decide to go with your suggestions if others suggest the same and if it seems feasable and worth it financially etc. They (the show promoters and organizations) have other factors they base decisions on which are not always in the best interest of the athlete but its part of the game. I tried all the feds I could when I started........it got me banned with one of them because some do not allow cross competing but I learned a lot and achieved my goals and am now ironically full circle and back with the same fed that banned me. Its been long enough and I have not competed outside their fed now and will not be since my goals cooincide with competing with them so I start over and so far its been bumpy, hopefully I will prove myself worthy....so to speak.....and make it up a few levels in the next few years.
