I recently bought from a neighbor a pyramid of Dumbbells. The heaviest are 50 lb.Is that heavy enough to build mass. I am 5 11 190lbs.So far I can do about 8 reps twice of the 50 lb dumbells, after going thru a warm up of the 30 lb ones (next Heaviest)Should I work back up the pyramid for size or is that not going to help build muscle rather just increase endurance.I heard Someone say Schwarzenegger felt it would increase size.Don't want to waste my time when it won't work. What I mean is should I take a longer break and try for just a few more of the 50 lb db's . Appreciate any feedback.

Don't do pyramidding. it's counterproductive towards mass. I assume you mean curling as well with the 50lb dumbells. And, unless you have great genetics or have trained in the past for roughly 2 years you should not be able to do 50s for 2 sets of 8 which leads me to believe you are swinnging them or using your back too much.

To use 50lb dumbbells, I would assume that you are quite well versed in working out and you wouldn't have to ask these questions...

I agree with minotaur... The only way a person knows how effective a program is is to try it themselves..
