ORIGINAL: bryphil1 Thanks for the encouragement!! For the past year I've had tendonitis in my shoulder. It turned out that it was the attachment of the biceps tendon. (the biceps has two parts - one part attaches outside the joint capsule to the coracoid process of the scapula and the other attaches to the top of the glenoid fossa in the joint capsule) The part that actually crosses the shoulder joint (inside the capsule) ruptured when I was lifting. I had done 4 sets of DB flat (pyramid up to 8 reps of 110lbs), 4 sets of DB incline, and 4 sets of DB decline (pyramid up to 8 reps of 110lbs). I followed that with several sets of flies, then I grabbed some 35's and did a few front raises and it tore. (should have stopped- I was tired and should have listened to my body) The doc simply attached the tendon to the top of the humerus (in the bicipital groove) rather than open the capsule and put it back on the scapula. Sorry about posting the same pictures again. The first picture was the week before the injury. The second was the day of the injury. I've done quite a bit of cardio while waiting for the release to lift and have lost about 7 pounds. I weighted 176 with clothes and shoes on today. I was 180 without five weeks ago. So in other words.. he attached the tendon where it's not supposed to be? doesn't that limit your natural range of motion or something?

No, it doesn't limit range of motion...but the tendon can no longer help stabilize the top of the glenohumeral (shoulder joint). And, I guess, it (the bicep) can't play as big a part in shoulder flexion (not that it played a big role to begin with). The tendon normally courses through the bicipital groove on its way to the scapula. Now, it's attached there. I'll be interested to see if it will change the shape of the muscle.
