405 full squat reached!!!!
-
Thursday, July 16, 2009 12:06 PM
( #1 )
Been my goal for quite some months now and I finally got it today!! But anyway my best deadlift is currently 450 and it seems its kind of low in comparison to my squat at this point, especially considering my build. Would you guys agree? I heard a good raw ratio for the big 3 is 300,400,500 on bench, squat, deadlift so I think that is what Ill aim for. Oh, and I did it on the last day of no carbs before my carb up. So theres proof that you dont get weak on keto.
working on explosive phase vertical: 35 weight: 206 Big 3: 300/440/515 Strength and growth come only through continuous effort and struggle.

congrats on reaching your goal! i will say though that the last part of your statement does not mean the general populus. you might not have seen strength decrease on keto but that does not mean it effects your body the same ways as others. i would go into it more but you guys covered all the minor discussion on the other thread.

Grats, 405 is a good number for a nice deep squat. I should be somewhere around there next time I do regular squats without a box or bands. But that is my short term goal as well.

300, 400, 500 sounds about right - but you don't have an imbalance to say the less. Have you considered competing in powerlifting? I know a few guys heavier and weaker than you (even in a suit) and they do pretty good in powerlifting.

The guy I know weighs 220 and his deadlift in a suit is like 465. I'm not sure how much more a suit adds but his raw deadlift I believe is about 405-425. He competes for the #1 powerlifting college in the US (ULL). His squat in a suit is 425 and his bench in a suit is 275. If you joined a drug free competition I'd say you definitely wouldn't leave with your head down.

Possibly depending on the competition in your area, and if they were they have been doing it for a lot longer so there would be no need to worry. Nonetheless I do not see many people that are shredded pushing and pulling the weight you do either. Very impressive. Are you really only at 6.8% bf, you look about 5% in your avatar.

I don't think your deadlift is weak at all. If anything, I'd say you have an abnormally strong squat. 450 lbs. is no joke man!!!! And neither is a FULL 405 lb. squat!!! I must say, I'm jealous. But I'll be there one day you bastard!!!

RS your lifts are pretty good, if you wanted to compete i think you would do well also. My raw deadlift is just over 2x my bodyweight, i want it to be 3 times, it'll get there eventually.

To be honest I dont think you have the right build and you have too much muscle mass at your weight to compete in a PL competition. I have a friend who competes actually (and weighs in the 190s) and is only 5'5. His short and stocky build is the kind of thing i think works the best there because of the short range of motion. I've seen him bench 385 before and i've never seen anyone front squat as much as him; 365 for reps easy. He does do really well though.

Honestly though, look at some of the top bodybuilders, they have a lot of height, some of the best deadlifters are tall somewhat skinny conventional lifters. And the guys around the 1k mark on their lifts are usually all atleast 6 ft tall. RS could probably drop some weight right before a comp and enter the 181 lb class, the real question is he really interested in competing? He could strength train get up to 210 or so and enter the 198 lb class and do well, or even better in higher weight classes provided is strength increases as he does.

well it looks like he is continuing or has lost weight while gaining strength. If he could keep the same weight and add 100 pounds to each lift over his next 2-3 years or so he could be a complete beast.

Rolling Stone is a lean mean iron pushing machine.... dude.. to keep that low of a bodyfat and still have the type of strength increases you have is nothing less than incredible..... If I could feed RS for about six months, take him to a few buffets and fat'n him up a bit.... he would be an even stronger monster..
There is never enough time to do everything, but there is always enough time to do the most important thing

I always figured staying that low a bf would be next to impossible, I figured most people only get cut up for short periods but he has held that pretty long.

Yeah look into natural power lifting events, im sure there are some around your area. With those numbers and being all natural, im sure you wont disappointed with your performance. BTW very nice job with the squat. Im aiming for 405, and im hoping to get it soon myself...but it just reminded me of how I failed at 385, lol...

Damn, I'm like 70 lbs. heavier than you and my heaviest squat was only 365 lbs. Big ups, man! Way to go!

I don't know why my squat is so damn weak, but I've always struggled with them. Pulling exercises were always my strong point - deads, rows, weighted pullups, etc...
