http://www.warehousefitness.com/exercise-equipment/OSWG-300/product.aspx -- Here is a link to the weight set. The Olympic weight set comes with an "OB-85" bar, - which is 7' and 300Lb capacity, two "OC-06" spring collars, and 255Lbs of plates: 2x45Lb, 2x35Lb, 2x25Lb, 2x10Lb, 4x5Lb, 4x2.5Lb. Its going to cost $259.00USD, The bench model number is "BFOB10" Body-solid and costs $150USD, shipping included. http://www.ironcompany.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=3345 -- Here is a link to the bench http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/1648/bfob10lgtc3ao8.jpg -- Picture of the bench. I hear on this forum that BodySolid makes good equipment but I'm still keeping an eye on the original bench I was looking at, the LF-3750. http://www.academy.com/index.php?page=content&target=products/fitness/weights/weights_benches&start=12&selectedSKU=0415-02825-3750 -- Link to the LF-3750. I also found some Ebay pictures and this thing looks like it would make a superb squat rack, after the seat is removed. I was considering throwing out the seat and using a utility bench because the seat it comes with doesn't look like it holds 1,000Lbs to make the barbell holder's capacity useful... deceptive? It also doesn't look safe! I have two questions aswell, are these stores / websites safe to buy from? That bar is a 7Ft, 45Lb, 300Lb capacity, what happens if I stick more weight on it? I know that might sound like a stupid question, but is the bar tested up to 300Lbs or does it show signs of failing at 300Lbs? Btw, Cheers to the nutrition forum, the fridge tends to stay stocked with much better food now and I think that makes my dad happy since he goes to the gym often. Many thanks...

On that page with the 300lb barbell set no where on the page did it say the word "capacity" or "tested" If you are worried if it is safe to buy from a website get one of those program from your credit cards website that randomizes your account number so it can only be good for 1 purchase.

The bar in that 300LB OLY set is OB-85, I checked the bar to see what it could hold and its a 300LB capacity. I'm currently browsing the Dick's sporting goods website, looks nice, but I'm going to have a hard time convincing my dad to drive half way across Texas to reach the stores... unless they have a really good selection. :P Does the retail store have a bigger selection than the website? That $89.99USD OLY set sounds too good to be true, can't find it on the website.

Considering the drive to Dallas if the weight set is really $89.99USD at Dick's sporting goods, savings on the weights would make the cost in gas more reasonable. I'm also going to stick with the BFOB10 bench, its from BodySolid and the other bench I was looking at just doesn't look safe. http://www.ironcompany.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=3345 You wouldn't happen to know how much weight it can hold up to...? I can't find the specs for the bench. I would be very happy if you could give me the address to the exact store you bought from, since there are quite a few stores on the website. Also, was this weight set on sale or some kind of discounted price, or is $89.99USD the full price? Driving to Dallas is about 200 miles, and probably comparable to sucide. I'm also looking at Craigs list for some good deals, so far its looking like my best shot at some good gear.

ORIGINAL: mr. 209 one question, how are you gonna do squats???? Swing the bar off the ground and go for front squats? I might prop it up on my mini fridge and desk/dresser and get under it. You just gota work with what you got when money is tight. I know the dresser and desk combined can hold the poundage because I had to climb up to the window with a big air conditioner in my hands, along with raising it up. I'm about 220LB, the AC unit is about 50LB, the computer is about 40LB, yeah, the dresser can hold the weight. There are used equipment stores all around Houston from what I hear, so I'm hoping my dad can drop by for some prices and I see what I can get for $400USD. Another thing, would combining a squat rack with a good utility bench work well as a bench press? Seems like a good idea... Came across this, looks good! I wanted some Olympic dumbells but not enough money. :P Then again, we shall see what a used equipment store turns up! http://www.fitnessdestination.com/df1050.htm
