I joined fitday.com the other day, and did a quick rough add-in of my foods, and it seems I'm only getting about maybe near 2000 calories, but I need 2500 calories to gain weight. I was wondering if u could help me add some ideas to what I could add in my snacks, which are the one's which need the most work on, breaky, lunch and dinner seem to be enough, maybe lunch need's a bit more though...Here is my typical day...I'm juz a bit low on ideas on snacks, cos I never had snacks in b/w meals...

Breaky: slice of bread+peanut butter, 3 wheet-bix+combined with some other cereal with milk
Snacks: banana
Lunch: 4 slices of bread/can tuna or big container of rice/veggies/meat
Snack: banana, slice of bread+peanut butter, cup milk
dinner: bowl of soup, several bowls of rice with veggies/meat....

Oh and btw, i got a condition called "crohn's" so that could also affect me from gaining weight, but yea..generally i think i need to eat more...

Since Crohn's often relates to food allergies, you should watch to see if you have any reactions to any foods..if you do...remove them from your diet.  replace them with other nutritions foods.

Foods to consider eliminating are dairy, fish, yeasted products, pickled products, hard sausages.  These products are high in histamine.  Avoid products with carrageenan.

Also Alcohol, caffeine, carbonated beverages, corn, eggs, fried or greasy foods, spicey foods, tobacco, white flour, peppers, margarine, barley, rye, and refined foods.

AVOID artificial flavorings, artificial coloring, and preservatives!  This includes sucralose, acesulfame-K, nutrasweet, aspartame, etc.

You should eat lots of antioxidant foods, a teaspoon of fish oil 3-4x a day. l-glutamine, garlic...

This means you should probably use a vegetarian protein powder....look into one with spirulina as that helps with issues relating to Crohn's.

To answer the questions.

Think of it as having multiple meals and not as snacks.  Every meal will be smaller but well balanced!

Eat as much organic as you can!!!

Usa a 3-a-day multivit to a 6-a-day with added antioxidants
Breaky: Multivitamin, Hot amaranth or Oat meal (well saturated and slow cooked for longer than normal), nuts, ground flax seeds, maple, almond or peanut butter, orange, protein, fish Oil
Snacks: Rice pasta, carrots, snow pea, lentils, shiitake mushroom, onions, blueberries, fish Oil
Pre workout nutrition (250 calories)
Post workout nutrition (250 calories)
Lunch: Multivit, fish oil, rice/veggies/turkey strawberries
Snack: Sweet potato, fish oil, garlic, chicken, parsley, lettuce, cucumber
dinner: Multi-vit, bowl of soup, several bowls of rice with veggies/meat....

Chew your food like there is no tomorrow!

Make sense?

RE-read..these are SMALLER meals = 5 ounces of sweet potato, 3 ounces of chicken, a small salad.

You will DESIGN it to meet 2500 calories.
Look 2500 minus the PWos (500) = 2000 cals
you have 5 meals there and that means each one should be 400 calories
That is nothing!

Oh, forgot..

Absolutely..you need to INCREASE absorbtion..so a multi that is a 3 a day with extra anioxidants adn digestive enzymes will increase your nutrient levels wich makes you more successful in training!

Believe me, I know it!

I had 17 units and 3 jobs.  I cook everything on sunday.  Takes about 2 hours.  I pre-package in seperate containers according to my meal plan and put it all in the fridge.

Every AM I load up the "away" meals in the cooler.  Keep it in the car or locker...just carry the meal you need next.
Carry almonds, fruit, etc to snack on if you are late on a meal!
Bring a fork and a napkin!
And lots of bottles of water...
Those 40 calorie meals are pretty small.

This is how we put on all the muscle!
You can do it!

No no

You know how there are 1-a-day vites..well I recommend taking a vitamin that comes in a 3 a day or 6 a day..to spread out the nutrients.

Especially one that is high in antioxidants and digestive enzymes.

Maybe a powdered multi even...

Make sense?

Well, just go look at them, if you can get a 3 a day..thats great..if not..no loss.  Then I recommend looking into a seperate antioxidant and enzymes ...to increase digestions/absorbtion.

After a while in health, fitness, and nutrition...I have seen a lot..and I do my homework.Smile
