2009 NGA Alabama Natural Open Championships - Saturday, February 28, 2009 6:17 PM ( #1 )

I am proud to announce that I am promoting a major natural bodybuilding event this summer in Birmingham, Alabama:

2009 NGA Alabama Natural Open Bodybuilding, Figure and Fitness Model Championships (Pro Qualifier), Hoover High School, Hoover (Birmingham), Alabama, Saturday, July 11th.

We will award four NGA Pro Cards, presented by Andrew Bostinto, President of the National Gym Association (NGA), to the Overall Men's and Women's Bodybuilding, Masters and Figure Champions.

We are introducing a new Class at this NGA show, Men's and Women's Fitness Model. As a bonus, the Cathi Larson Talent and Modeling Agency, one of our sponsors, will be back stage and in the audience, looking for new talent among the Bodybuilders, Figure and Fitness Model contestants.

The check-in location and host hotel are within a mile of the show venue.

Our goodie bags will be stuffed with workout gloves, tee-shirts and supplements. Gripads and Beverly International are two of the show's sponsors.

We will have a professional videographer and still photographer to capture every moment. The photographer will also be set up backstage for individual photos.

At check-in on Friday, a professional coach will conduct a clinic for Figure and Fitness Models to prepare them for their T-Walk and individual routines.

Birmingham is a cool city with lots to do (Civil Rights Museum, Barber Motorcycle Museum, Vulcan Park and great restaurants). For travelers, the Birmingham Airport is located in the city, about five miles from the venue.

For more information and registration, please visit our show web site:

Train Hard, Train Natural, and come to Birmingham to compete in the 2009 NGA Alabama Natural Open Championships.

Thank you.

New class, Men's and women's fitness model?  I haven't heard of this before but I can imagine what it is. RS should compete,

Sounds like cool event, way far away from where I am at, but it sounds like it'll go well and attract competitors.

Thanks, Warrior.

Visit our show web site: www.NGAAlabamaOpen.com and read about the new Fitness Model Class under NGA Rules and Regulations.

I live in Alabama and have competed 27 times out of state, including Georgia, Florida, Louisiana, Virginia, Massachusetts, Utah, Kentucky and Canada.  I have judged shows in North Carolina, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Georgia, Cape Cod, Massachusetts and Florida.  What's a little travel to do a bodybuilding show?

2009 NGA Alabama Natural Open Championships - Results - Sunday, July 12, 2009 1:04 PM ( #4 )
2009 NGA Alabama Natural Open Bodybuilding, Figure and Fitness Model Championships - Pro Qualifier: Results

Forty-eight outstanding men and women athletes vied for Neils Andersen Sculptured trophies at Saturday's 2009 NGA Alabama Natural Open Bodybuilding, Figure and Fitness Model Championships at a sold-out Hoover High School venue in Birmingham, Alabama.

The crowd enthusiastically supported the contestants who came from Tennessee, Georgia, Louisiana, Florida, Pennsylvania and Alabama to compete for three NGA Pro Cards in Open Figure, Men's Masters and Open Bodybuilding.

To a person, the athletes were pleased with the setting, the pump up area, the treats and the goodie bags, which were supplied by Muscletology, an Alabama based supplement company and filled with tee shirts, hats, a pair of Gripad workout gloves and supplements.  All of the competitors said they would come back next year for the 2010 NGA Alabama Natural Open Championships.

Three NGA Pro Cards were awarded:

Angia Baker of Tuscaloosa, Alabama won the Figure Tall Class and went on to capture the Open Figure Overall

Timothy Holder of Birmingham, Alabama captured the Masters 50+ title and won the Masters Overall.  Tim's posing routine impressed the judges enough for them to award him the show's Best Poser Trophy.

David Lee Gallahan, Jr. of Pelham, Alabama was scored the unanamous Heavyweight Class winner and also scored a unanamous vote from the judges to become the Overall Champion of the NGA Alabama Natural Open.
