19 Male Just getting Into Body Building
-
Sunday, June 03, 2007 8:43 PM
Hey there, I am a 19 Year old male that is just starting to get into Bodybuilding. I am 6'1 and 160 Lbs. (Lankey) I used to be into competitive swimming and because of that am quite lean. I am looking to Bulk up. Currently Through my research I am taking: AllMax Quick Mass and EFX Kre- Alkalyne I am looking for some input into supliments and foods to eat. I am a Vegetarian and clearly because of that getting enough protien is allready a challange. Any input would be welcome. I will post more about training in the correct section. Thanks in advance for any help

From what I know, being a vegetarian is not good when trying to build muscle. You get a lot more things other than protien from meats like creatine for example. My suggestion is to eat meat and get a protein shake and get a creatine product.

My suggestion is to NOT throw your lifestyle and convictions in the garbage. Being a vegetarian is a HUGE commitment and extremely commendable. I cannot recall who but there was a pro who was vegetarian, not vegan though. Anyway, stay veg, animal cruelty on corporate farms is disgusting. Since milk is okay for you I will assume cottage cheese is as well, it is a great source of protein. To be honest I rarely consume meats with the intention of getting protein, too fatty. Animal Pak is a great complement to any diet/training regimen. Stick to your whey, drink skim milk, eat cottage cheese and if your lifestyle allows for it, try some egg whites. Kre-Alkalyne is a great product to have included as well. Good Luck.

Thanks for the input. From Both of you. I would not be able to give up my vegetarian diet at this point. I do drink lots of milk and try to get the cottage cheese in there too. I seem to have been getting pretty good results thus far. Been going strong for about a month and a half and have gained almost 5 pounds and increased my lifts all across the board. just need to tune in the diet and supplements to add to the workout routine. Thanks

Tofu (soya in general) and nuts are sources of complete protein, however consider the fact that the soy isoflavones in tofu raise your body's estrogen levels. Milk, cottage cheese, egg whites (if acceptable on diet) are essentials. Keep up the good work and keep your convictions. I'm no vegetarian myself, but I admire veggie bodybuilders and their hard work !

Eat loads of wholemeal bread and crackers check the nutritional content on them first because they need to be of decent quality, I like drinking loads of full fat milk as it contains everything you need to bulk up and believe me you'll need quite a bit of fat too because you need lots of calories.
