17 and a beginner - questions about prohormone alternatives - Sunday, April 02, 2006 4:58 PM
i'm seventeen and i've just started weightlifting to add muscle to my upper body. i've read alot about the advantages of using supplements of tribulus, avena sativa, and eurycoma longifolio jack to increase the availability of testosterone in the body. i'm still not fully mature, though, and i wanted to ask if anyone had any cautionary advice or experience with any of this as an adolescent body builder. personally, i fault my genetics for making me produce a comparatively low amount of testosterone relative to other teens my age so i'd like more testosterone - i just don't want f-up the balance of hormones in my body and grow ****tits or something

Look up any test booster, and anti-estrogens.. they work together. Althoug i'm not sure you need testosterone.. Why not stack up on protein and eat alot.. mixed with hard work. That'll build your chest

Your 17, Steroids are not the answer, your body is still growing and there are many cheaper and safer alternatives. Ronnie Coleman, Barry Bonds, All those pros that use steroids. Their steroids come from private labs, not street dealers. They spend  insane amounts of money. Barry reportedly spent close to a million. Buying steroids from a gym rat will not be the same that those pros use. it could be somthin made out of raid ant killer. Stick with protein and hard work. You cant build muscle over night, consult a personal trainer and construct a routine to meet your goals.

kids our age are at peak testosterone production, if you were to take prohormones or anything like that you'd mostlikely just get a bad case of acne.  you wont see that great of results.. prohormones are only really helpful to ppl over 25.

how did you determine you had low test. if a doc told you, im sure he could prescribe you something to help you out. if your popping zits or getting boners whenever you sit for more then 5 min (oh the good old days) then i think your just fine. remember some kids hit their growth spurt before others. if you mess with ur test levels, then you"ll never have a growth spurt. i knew a kid who was shorter then me all his life (friends since 3rd grade but as you get older you seperate but still talk, now that i look back those were my true friends) but like senior year dude grew like a foot and still hasn't stopped, hes now like 6' 7" and i haven't grown an inch since freshman year. look into protein and then after a while maybe try some creatine. supps is only like 10% of it, eat a lot but healthy and get a lot of sleep. remember pro BB are like 35, even with the best stuff in the world it takes time.
i want to be like marc david when i grow up

I agree- Stay the hell away from all that crap, you honestly don't even need supps when you're starting out. Let me tell you something- It's obvious because you're starting out, you want results, and you want them as fast as possible- But you know the best way to do it is to learn the right way, and be patient. Instead of asking us about stuff like this, why not ask in the nutrition forum for some muscle building diet advice? Food is where your muscle will come from, I don't care what else you're taking. Muscle is built from excess calories, period. Without those, from the proper sources, you're basically going nowhere- And, being a beginner, once you start on the proper diet for adding muscle, you're going to experience massive begginer gains in the first few months. Yes, it does take a few months for your body to adjust to a new diet and workout routine- But the wait is definitely worth it. Anyway, after you've experienced those natural gains, and you see them start to slow down, which is natural- Now you'll have to ask for some more diet advice to fine tune your meals for optimum growth. Then, maybe you can start considering some supps- Simple stuff, protein powders, creatine, etc- And you have a ton of gains to get from that sort of thing before you really have to worry about pro hormones or anything else. Start out with pro hormones, and where the hell are you going to go from there? Do it right, and be patient.

hey thanks everyone for replying and quickly too. i'll just stick to whey protein and creatine and eating more - which i'll start reading the nutrition part of the forum for. does anyone have any advice for putting on weight? i run and i play soccer and i never have an appetite so it's hard to get the 3000 calories that i probably need in a day.

Advice for putting on weight is simple- Sticking to it takes getting used to. Re-read what I wrote above, all the advice for gaining weight is in there- Follow that, and I guarantee you will pack on muscle in the next few months. Eating five or six times a day isn't easy, but once your body gets used to it, it will not be a problem- The biggest thing for me to get used to was to eat even when I wasn't hungry.
