RE: 14 yrs tryin to get big for football - Tuesday, June 26, 2007 9:25 PM ( #3 )
maybe i can help.

1. eat. ALOT. more calories than youre burning. go to a hot dog eating contest and make that skinny japanese freak look like a wimp.
2. supplements. creatine is good, but above all, eat high protien stuff. eggs, chicken, FRIED CHICKEN ZOMG. also, im concerned about recommending this to a 14 year old, so ask your doc and look it up online (reputable sources) take testosterone boosters like zinc and magnesium pills (you can get em at savon for cheap)
3. do high intensity exercises. squats are wonderful. if youre going to deadlift, for the love of god get someone who is a veteran to spot you and make sure you have good form. if you have the facilities for it do olympic lifts.

and dont panic. youre young. you got some growing to do.

good luck!

i think lifting at a young age damaging your hight is a mith. I only think this IF you use proper form with each excersise especially compound lifts like deadlifting as atomick said.

Eat more than your bruning as someone has said before, (IF ANYONE CAN GIVE TREMANN THE LINK TO THE CALORETIC INTAKE SPREADSHEET THINGI MABOBI PLEASE BECAUSE I FORGOT IT) concentrate on your form rather than how much your lifting, IMO i stick to 8-12 reps nothing lower, you dont have to go heavy to see results remember, just use good form and if your unsure about form on any excersises ask US on here or any1 in the gym who looks like they would know what there talking about. Its probably better to ask us because were not gonna patronise you about your age.

Whats your goal im guessing its to gain as much muscle as possible with as little fat as possible?

how tall are you? how much do you weigh.

finally - try doing push ups on a morning and night about 20 push ups and 20 situps/crunches. Push ups are great and safe its almost imposible to get injured and they are great to build upper body strength. Dont go doign hundreds of crunches a night 20 a night or day should be fine.

look around the forum but military press, tricep kickback, benchpress, bicep curl, chin ups etc try swapping between wide and narrow grip for some of these excercises to workout different muscles, form is essential though as pimpwivgunz said. Start with lightish weights and make sure your form is near perfect before you use anything you find heavy otherwise you won't build any real muscle.

well, i got big for my freshie year of football just simply by lifting 5 days a week, and just eating what i wanted not really worrying about it. But im guessing if u dd watch what u eat and get alot of clean carbs u would have HUGE results.

Hey,
Well for one, what position you playing kid? 139 for a LB for a fresh in highschool sounds like a pretty good weight. I weighed like 130 come camp last year, played Wideout and CB. Both sides baby.

Most highschools give you a workout regimen to follow, so I'd just say stick to that for now until you become knowledgable enough to discover what works best for you.
Good luck with the season kid. (ha considering I'm going to be a sophmore, seems right that I can call you kid.)

dylan im planning on playing LB or DB reALLY nething on defense except for corner

i mostly just workout at school

Monday:upper body:bench press, incline bench, auxiallary lifts for shoulder, triceps, biceps
5 sets each of 6 reps

tuesdays:lower body:Squats, power clean, mountain climber and sqat jumps
same amount of reps and sets
