If bulking, your going to add bodyfat on. But if it turns out to be too excessive, stop because your doing too much since you already have noticed you abs fade away. Clean bulk it; meaning, bulk but watch what you eat and dont go to McDonalds after lifting for instance. (I've actually heard of someone on here, and in the gym do this.)

no leg work? ooo big no-no. the fact that you gained that much upper body mass, there must be a huge muscular imbalance between your upper/lower body. do you ever do leg work?

Anyone who bulks are going to see their abs dissapear if they put on a considerable amount of weight, when you cut or start working your abs more they will become even more defined than they were before. It's expected.

ORIGINAL: cody i dont do legs my calves are 13.5 inches will squats with weights help? Firstly, Yes. Secondly, Squats are a major part of lifting! Without working your legs you're promoting muscular imbalance which will cause a lot of discomfort and a lot of problems with aching later on down the road. Also, Squat-like movements release just enough growth hormone to promote muscle growth all around the body. Your body will stop growing very very quickly if you don't work out the entire thing because it doesn't like imbalance. Your gains in strength will also increase if you work your legs. One of the biggest mistakes a newbie does is not work their legs and they're at a HUGE disadvantage because of it. Go low weight with Squats and practice your form for a while. Go deep. Get those tiny quads bigger. Might I add... DEADLIFTS.
